Its out. The news that the FAA has fined 1.9 Million Dollars to a company which created aerial photographs and mapping services available to millions for a nominal cost. The fact that the company operated way before the rule was instated is another matter. What is of grave concern though is that there are more than a few hundred companies today who are posing as companies who can work out a FAA 33 exemption for drone users at a nominal cost, the nominal cost being anywhere between $3500 - $8000

Though these companies state that they will process your application for an exemption, the actual task is handed over to another company or a law firm to proocess the entire documentation. People , including affiliate marketing companies are now accepting orders to file an exemption on your behalf , taking a more than moderate cost for their paper shoving service. To make matters worse, these service dont really provide a perfect customer experience

There are many others who claim to have 100's of exemptions success in the recent past (while the total number of exemptions signed off is 1700 odd as off date). People are now moving forward to create another space , an area where there is a possibility of making huge money in legal services without really knowing what the process is and how much it costs.

A exemption for a flying a drone commercially usually costs a decent sum (undisclosed) but is best if you had a drone lawyer directly in the process. Most companies do have their own lawyers who can get the filing done or find a decent drone lawyer who will work the legal ropes for you without much fuss.
