Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national level exam led by the IIM’s (Indian Institute of Management) on the policy of rotation. CAT 2016 is likely to be held by IIM Bangalore for admittance in the academic year 2016-17. Applicant can get admission in Postgraduate Business Administration Programs under various IIT, IIM, NITs and other Government and private institutes in India.

CAT 2016 will be held in the month of November 2016. The test will check the awareness of a student on different fields like quantitative ability, verbal ability, logical reasoning and data interpretation. Courses offered through CAT – PGP, PGPEM, PGP-ABM, PGPPM, PGP-Mumbai, PGP-UAE, EPGPM, PGPSM, PGPWE, PGDM, PGDHRM, PGPEX, and PGPBM.

Eligibility for CAT 2016

  • The applicant must be graduate from any renowned Institution/University.
  • The applicants pursuing their final year may also apply for the CAT.
  • The applicant having any degree equal to graduation from any standard University or Institution are also qualified for CAT 2016.
  • The applicant can be of any disciplines (B.A, B.Sc., and B.Com. B.Tech. etc.) in qualification.
  • The applicant does not need any prior job experience to apply for CAT.
  • The minimum percentage required for the CAT is 50% or equal to CGPA but it varies from institute to institute. For reserved classes the percentage criteria is 45%. Candidates should go through the brochures of the various institutes they want to target.
  • The applicant can be of any age as there is no age restriction set for CAT.
  • The applicants appearing graduation can also apply for the CAT 2016 but they must clear the graduation in same year with given qualifying criteria.

CAT 2016 Important dates

  • Application form availability – 6th August to 20th September
  • Distribution of Admit Card online – 25th October till exam date
  • Date of CAT – 29 November 2016
  • Result declaration – 2nd week of January

CAT 2016 Application Form Process

The CAT Application form will be available on the authorized website iim cat, from the month of August 2016 till last week of September. Applicants are required to fill in all the details very carefully and also select the 3 preferred centers for the exam. The admit card will be distributed through the approved site and applicants may get their admit card from mid of October 2016 to till the date of test.

Cost of the registration

The fee of Rs. 1600 is charged by general applicants and OBC/NC applicants and 800 for SC/ST/Person with disability. This nonrefundable amount is paid through net banking or any debit/credit card.

CAT 2016 Exam Pattern

CAT 2016 is an online exam which will be of 2 hrs. 50 minutes. The test will consists of 100 questions based on quantitative ability, verbal ability, logical reasoning and data interpretation. Each question will carry 3 marks and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

CAT 2016 Admit Card

Admit card will be issued and downloaded from the official website of the CAT from October 2106 till exam date. If any mistake or error is found in CAT 2016 Admit Card, applicants must inform the council well in advance. Applicants must check all the details regarding their personal details and exam date.

CAT 2016 Result

Applicants will be informed about the result date. Mostly the CAT result is announced in the last week of December or first week of January. The applicants can check their result on the official website by entering their name and roll number on the result date.

CAT 2016 Admission Procedure

The admission method is centered on the merit list, group discussion, writing ability and personal interview round. The applicants are shortlisted by keeping in mind their academic performance and background and work experience if any. This procedure is an unbiased way to select the preferred applicant.
