Cleaning Tips for Shaw Carpet Tiles
These days some houseowners prefer to use alternatives to the
traditional carpets when it comes to floor coverings. Shaw carpet tiles
are easier to install and maintain than the rolled carpets. They are
available in many different patterns and designs, so you will have the
chance to give your imagination free rein. No matter what floor covering
you use, regular maintenance is a must in order to keep them in proper
condition. With routine cleaning you will make the tiles last longer.
Here are some tips, which will help you for the cleaning mission.
In the beginning I will list the main things you will need for the purpose:
- vacuum cleaner
- mild detergent
- clean towels or rags
You can clean carpet tiles with a vacuum cleaner with a beater bar or brush. Cleaning specialists such as rug cleaning in Melbourne experts claim that if the tiles are located in low-traffic areas, you should vacuum them twice a week. On the other hand, if we speak about high-traffic areas, it is best to vacuum them daily.
Take care for wet spills right away, otherwise you will have to spend more time and energy later. You can absorb the moisture with a clean rag or towel. Always start from the outside of the spill and work your way toward the inner areas. Once you have removed most of the moisture, put a dry towel over the carpet and something heavy on top. Leave the towel there for a few hours in order to absorb the moisture completely.
For light stains and spots you can use a mixture of 1 tsp. mild detergent per 32 oz. of water in a spray bottle. With this mixture you can spray the stains on your floor covering. Don't forget after that to blot well with either a dry rag or towel to remove both moisture and detergent.
When it comes to treating tough stains, you can use Shaw R2X Stain and Soil Remover. The cleaning procedure is pretty simple. You just have to spray with the cleaner to the carpet tiles and then blot away the stains using a towel. After that you will have to spend some time to get rid of the moisture again. The simplest thing you can do is to place a towel for a few hours and put a heavy book or something else on top.
Steam cleaning the carpet is recommended to be done annually. If you don't have a steam cleaner, you have a few options. Some people prefer to hire it for a few days. Others refer to professionals and so on. Or if you have a close friend or relative who owns such a device, this is also a solution. At the end when you are ready with the cleaning procedures, use natural air flow or fans to dry the carpet as faster as possible. Remember that moisture and carpet fibers do not work well together and if you want your carpets to last longer, always remove the remained moisture as quickly as possible.
