by Mitun Mukherjee Milkio food product

High cholesterol levels have been a matter of concern for many. Health experts avoid having fats that are not healthy and contain harmful trans fats. Cholesterol is naturally made by our liver and it has many important functions. Cholesterol in ghee is not a matter of concern unless you are having it in an excessive way. Ghee is made by melting and boiling pure salted butter and it doesn't undergo any kind of processing. As a result there is no preservative or trans fat found in ghee.

There are two type of cholesterol present in our body -

  1. High-density lipoprotein (HDL)

  2. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL)

The HDL is considered to be healthy cholesterol and LDL is the bad one. To lower your LDL cholesterol level you should focus on monounsaturated fats. Ghee is one such food item that can help you in maintaining your HDL level. There is no doubt that ghee contains enough amounts of saturated fats as well as cholesterol, but they are healthy for us. The short chain fatty acids in this diary staple strengthens our digestive system and boosts metabolism.

Ghee cholesterol is not a matter of concern, says experts. Healthy fats like omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 in ghee, can prevent inflammation and reduce the irritation of the unhealthy gut. Portion control is important to enjoy the benefits of pure ghee. This was all about cholesterol in ghee. To get the best health benefits you should use grass-fed ghee only.
