Canelo vs GGG 3 Fight Preview, Odds, Records, Broadcast, News, and Updates

by APSense News Release Admin

Canelo vs GGG3 has been one of the most anticipated fights in boxing for the past four years. And it's finally, and officially, HAPPENING!

They were scheduled to meet in the new year, four years after their second epic fight. DAZN owns the streaming rights to the Canelo vs Golovkin 3 U.S. bout and it will be included in the platform's new PPV offering. (Canelo vs Bivol was a trailblazer).

Dmitry Bivol, however, came along to wreck the script. He was a t P4P king Canelo and performed a masterful performance in order to keep his WBA light-heavyweight championship.

Canelo stated that he would like a rematch against Bivol after the fight, which would most likely end any chances of Golovkin's trilogy going ahead. Two weeks later, the Mexican megastar has announced that his next fight will be against GGG in September. We received the official announcement within hours.

Alvarez and Golovkin fought so intensely in 2017-2018, making it difficult for Golovkin to wait for the chance to settle the matter. "Big Drama Show" recalls that they drew their first encounter and lost the second, despite many experts and him believing that he had won them both. This is also true for politics and boxing scoring.

It appeared that the stage was set for the end of the trilogy up until May 7. GGG beat Ryoto Murata, Japan, to keep his side of the bargain. 'All Canelo had to do was beat Bivol.

Canelo knows that a third fight against Golovkin would be the most lucrative - and there are many scores to settle. The man from Guadalajar made his decision. Get your popcorn ready.

This is what we know about the biggest fight of 2022.

Canelo vs GGG 3 Odds

Official odds are available from online gambling sites and they are quite different from the 2017 and 2018 meetings. Golovkin was then our favorite.

Canelo is now a firm -390 favorite (bet $290 to win $100) with FanDuel, while Golovkin (bet $100 for $290) is a +290 underdog.

The Draw is possible too - Canelo won the rematch, but it was a close match. It's possible to win the Draw if you like a stalemate.

Canelo vs GGG Scorecards & Results

On Saturday, September 16, 2017, the first meeting between the two middleweight titans took places in Las Vegas. It was held at T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, and was televised by HBO PPV.

It was an excellent fight with Golovkin showing strength and Canelo doing better down the stretch. After a great fight, it was clear that 'GGG had won the fight.

Compubox stats showed that Golovkin defeated Canelo in 10 out of 12 rounds. This makes it easy to understand the protests that accompanied the verdicts. These were the cards:

  • Dave Moretti 115–113 Golovkin
  • Adalaide byrd:118-110 Canelo
  • Don Trella: 114-114 a Draw

The result was a draw. Not surprisingly, the Byrd scorecard caused a lot of dismay in the fight community. It was a walking score meme. Golovkin's perfect professional record was marred by this result.

Boxing was a loss, but money won the men. It would be necessary to have a rematch. Dollars and sense.

Canelo vs GGG 2 Scorecards & Results

One year after their first meeting, Canelo failed a drug test for clenbuterol. The date was postponed and the men did it again. Another great fight took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Ring magazine named it the 'Fight Of The Year. It was again a highly-contested result.

You could at least argue that it was close this time, and you could even argue with some conviction Canelo may have snuck the decision. Don't tell Golovkin and his legion of adoring supporters.

Canelo displayed a lot more aggression than in his first bout and controlled the centre ring for large portions of the evening. As the action moved on, both men displayed their granite chins.

It was inevitable that neither side would give an inch and it would be back to the drawing board with three judges deciding the outcome.

  • Dave Moretti115-113 Canelo
  • Steve Weisfeld: 115-113 Canelo
  • Glenn Feldman 114–114 a Draw

Majority Decision was in Canelo's favor and Canelo won. Golovkin lost his titles and unbeaten professional record. There were many protests, and most media chose Golovkin to win. It was not as easy this time, and there wasn't an Adalaide Byrd scorecard.

We would surely win a third battle, right? Yes and no. The big-spending streaming platform signed Canelo in a $365 million deal in 2018. It stated its ambition to pair him up with Golovkin for the trilogy. GGG was then signed by the streaming platform to close the loop. It has been difficult to tie both men down so far.

After a split with Oscar De La Hoya's promoter, Canelo left DAZN in 2020. However, he returned shortly after to fight Callum Smith and Avni Yildirim. He signed a new $100 million deal with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom, DAZN after his fight with Caleb Plant was aired on Showtime in late 2017.

Canelo Alvarez Record & Stats

The reigning P4P king of boxing, Saul 'Canelo'Alvarez, was born in Guadalajara (Mexico) on July 18, 1990. His professional record is 57-2-2. With 39 wins, he has won 57 of his matches. There were only two defeats and two draws. His defeats were at the hands Floyd 'Money Jr. in September 2013, and Bivol in May 2022.

Canelo, now 31, was just 23 years old when he lost his fight against Bivol. He was just too young and raw to compete with Mayweather. Mayweather was not fast enough or smart enough for Canelo to take down the man from Grand Rapids. He just ate more than he could eat against Bivol, going up in weight to fight a skilled fighter that he didn't have the power or ability to take down.

Alvarez's stellar professional career has seen him excel despite those losses. These two fights against Golovkin are only the tip of an enormous iceberg. He is a man of great power and intelligence, with a hugely underrated sense of humor. He also has a granite chin.

Alvarez, in addition to Golovkin has also defeated many top boxing fighters over the past 15 years. His victims include Shane Mosley and Miguel Cotto as well as Amir Khan, Sergey Kovalev, Amir Khan, Daniel Jacobs and the previously mentioned Saunders.

Canelo enjoyed a great 2021, annexed all the belts at super middleweight. He was crowned with his record-breaking year by defeating Caleb Plant at the unification showdown in Las Vegas.

Alvarez has so far won four world titles in four weight classes: super-welterweight (middleweight), super-middleweight, light-heavyweight and super-middleweight. Alvarez has spoken of his desire to fight for a fifth time at cruiserweight. However, that is not the plan.

Canelo is 5ft 7 1/2 inches (1.71m) tall with a reach of 70 1/4 inches (1.79m).

Gennadiy "GGG" Golovkin Record and Stats

Gennadiy, also known as "GGG" or "Big Drama Show", is a two-time champion at middleweight. His professional record is 42-1-1, with Canelo the only exception. Golovkin has won 37 fights within the distance. This is a KO ratio around 90 percent.

These stats are a testament to the terrifying power of Golovkin. It was something that shattered and destroyed many great fighters. He was able to overcome the will and granite chin of Alvarez.

Golovkin was born April 8, 1982 in Moscow. He turned 40 on the day of his showdown in Japan with Ryoto Murata on April 9. Golovkin's incredible record of 22 successful defenses of the middleweight title was extended by a ninth-round win.

Born in Karaganda in Kazakhstan, Golovkin weighed 160lbs and has seen success. But now, at 40 years old, he will face his greatest test yet as he must weigh in at 168 to meet Alvarez.

Golovkin is 5ft 10 1/2 inches (1.79m) tall with a reach 70ins (1.78m).
