Cyclone Nisarga Live Updates: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the cyclonic storm Nisarga, which has turned into a depression in the Arabian Sea, will hit Maharashtra and Gujarat on June 3. Follow the live updates for the cyclone here..
Thackeray warned the residents in Mumbai of a possible power cut while asking them to charge their electrical gadgets and emergency lights. Those living along the coastline should stay in their house and remain cautious, he said.
The five rescue teams have been posted in the naval stations in South Mumbai. The station commanders are known to be in touch with the state authorities. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had earlier stated that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed ten teams for rescue operations in view of the Nisarga cyclone, which is to hit the west coast of Maharashtra.
In addition to this, a team each of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF) have already been stationed in the districts.
