It is that time of year again… Christmas. I read an article in the paper the other day that Black Friday this year was a bit disappointing for most retailer…they were not as busy as they had been in past year. They were interviewing a few people as to why they thought that was the case this year…… The response was… “I didn’t go out on Black Friday and fight the crowds. I spread out my “”$4,000.00″ holiday shopping budget throughout the year. Someone was always having a sale”.

Did you read that …. her Holiday shopping budget for the year was $4,000.00. I know that I read that over and over and over again…. thinking that  simply must of been a huge typo!…. Maybe I am just a scrooge but>>> do you SPEND that kind of money for your holiday shopping.

Maybe I should ask that another way… do you BUDGET that kind of money for your holiday shopping?
I would hope that if someone had debt…. as so many people do that they would think about what they are spending and if you have the money by all means go for it. But if you are simply whipping out that good old credit card and then just shake your head when the bills come due that is just silly… though stupid might be a better word for it.

The saying “pay yourself first” should go here…. the money that you do have should be going to pay down your debt. It is as simple as that.
