In an advertising sense, a CTA is a piece of content intended to induce a viewer, reader, or listener to perform a specific act, typically taking the form of an instruction or directive.
Give Your Call to Action a Sense of Urgency
Which one sounds more appealing to you?
a.) 50% off buy now! Or;b.) 50% off limited time offer! Get it while you can!
Undoubtedly, it's option b. Why? Because it instills a sense of panic in the customer. When they know that the offer won't last long, they're more likely to buy. Some call it manipulation, but we call it a tactic.
Include Links to the Potential Sale
Links are particularly helpful for online shopping websites such as Shopee, Lazada, Ali Express, and Amazon. Send the customer an email with a gentle nudge reminding them about the items left in their cart. People everywhere are notorious for loading their shopping cart with things and forgetting to buy them. A little reminder never hurt anyone.
Keep It Short
After reading the content of your emails, the last thing a customer wants is to read the bulk of a paragraph with their eyes. As much as possible, have a one-liner to end your emails. It's informative, easy on the eyes, and effective.
Don't Be Scared of Using Color
Your call to action doesn't necessarily have to come in text form all the time. For younger audiences, an image, infographic, or even a GIF is more appealing. You can even get creative and program a link in the guise of a button into your email.
Attach a Call to Action to Everything
Don't just limit a CTA to your emails; you should also attach them to text messages, social media posts, newspaper ads, TV commercials, and print materials. Urgency doesn't stop at emails; it should come in all forms of marketing.
Having a Call to Action is one of the many aspects of good email campaign management. One small line will determine a conversion or a flop, so make it count.
