Business Or Politcis, The Choice Is Yours, Amarinder Singh Tells Badal

Calling on the Badals to stop misusing state machinery for personal gains, Captain Singh said that they must get their act together before things go out of control in the state. "The time has come for Parkash Singh Badal and his family to make a choice between business or politics before the mounting public wrath gets out of control and assumes dangerous proportions as was seen at Moga and now in Ropar," he asserted.
The Badal government is facing allegations of a massive cover-up in the Ropar case, which relates to the death of forty-year-old Swaran Singh allegedly run down by a luxury bus owned by Dabwali Transport, a travel company Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal owns. It is reported that the victim’s family was offered monetary settlement by the Badals but they declined.
The Punjab Police is also under the scanner for acting at the behest of the Badals, who were issued a clean chit even before the investigations could reach a closure. The Police, it is alleged, framed a cab driver instead which led to a furore across the state, raising serious questions of the Badals for maniplating and influncing key investigating agencies, including the specially convened SIT.
“The SIT and Punjab police have been reduced to a private militia of the Badal family which functions to protect and facilitate their business empire. Hence to expect a fair and an independent investigation by the SIT, into an incident involving the transport company of the deputy chief minister-cum-home minister of Punjab is merely illusory," said Congress State President, Parkash Singh Bajwa.
Meanwhile, the Congress has intensified on its demand of an independent probe headed by a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana high court which is yet to meet the government’s approval.
Back in April, Punjab was rocked by the gruesome death of a young girl at Moga who was molested and thrown off a moving bus belonging to the Badals. The matter is sub-judice after the HC took cognizance and directed the Punjab govt. to submit a detailed report, including ownership details of the vehicle.
