In a strong reaction to the claims and charges made against him by Partap Singh Bajwa, Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh dismissed them as “schizophrenic symptoms of a failed and frustrated man desperate about his own political survival”.

“It is natural for a failed and frustrated man like Bajwa to fulminate like this  and clutch at the straws as he sees his removal imminent and inevitable”, Capt Amarinder said in a statement before leaving for a week long private visit to London.

“Had he (Bajwa) spent as much energy and resources in working for the party, as he is spending in hallucinating about my forming a new party, naming it and even imagining the date and place for its announcement, I am sure he would have been surely in a better and stable state of mind today”, the former Chief Minister observed, while adding, “Bajwa can still do himself a favour by listing his achievements if he has any, instead of writing my progress report and counting the pictures on the posters and banners put up in our rallies and still lying about these”.

Preaching a few lessons in governance, Captain Singh said that a true leader is a measure of the love and affection he gets from the masses “For the first time in history of the state Congress president has repeatedly announced programmes and subsequently cancelled these as he failed to get any response from workers”, he said, questioning Bajwa on his programmes, most of which lead nowhere and fell way short of any achievements.

“Rather at one of the places, in Ludhiana, he literally ran away midway from a party function to avoid protesting party workers and addressed a press conference at a safe distance of 100 kms away in Chandigarh”, Capt Amarinder remarked.

He also made the observation that no PCC president has ever turned out as unpopular as Bajwa—who has reached the point where people keep him off their programmes and rallies.

“Unfortunately this man (Bajwa) spent all his energies in trying to be seen as more loyal than the king (he can never actually be loyal to anyone as deceit and betrayal is in his DNA) while ignoring the masses and that is the reason why he stands isolated and marginalised today in the party so much so that he could not retain even his own assembly segment, leave aside the parliament constituency”, he observed.

His response to Bajwa’s statement that he should be driven off the party, Captain Singh mulled that Congress workers across the state have made amply clear as to who deserves to shown the door and the massive crowds at his rallies is a testimony that the workers are on his side.

“It is hilarious for someone like Bajwa, who already stands expelled from the hearts and minds of the people and the party workers, to seek my expulsion”, he commented.
