College life is way far different from secondary education. Most colleges and universities are situated around the Metro, which means one needs to travel a couple of miles away from home. This is why college students consider the idea of renting a space to save themselves from long hours of traffic.

Students need not to worry anymore about finding a living space. High rise condominiums, dormitories and condormitels are built around the university belt to provide a comfortable and secured space for students. Aside from homey feel, these living spaces also guarantee 24/7 security, therefore parents can entrust the safety of their young adults there.

Allowing your son or daughter to live on their own has lots of benefits, and some are as follows:

Independence
Some young adults take time to mature, and often find themselves still dependent on their parents not just financially. Vices and other not school related expenses shouldn’t at all be provided by parents. Students must learn to support themselves. Living away from home will surely teach a student how to live on their own including doing the laundry, cleaning the house and cooking.  Parents should express their trust to their children for them to be confident enough to live on their own.

Responsibility
Not all independent young adults know how to be responsible for themselves. Being responsible is more that just the capacity to support yourself financially. It’s also about taking full control of your emotional, psychological and mental stability.

Budgeting
One of the hardest lesson to teach is the value for money. Most young adults tend to spend carelessly like there’s no tomorrow. For them, money must be spent up to its last cent.  Part of maturity is knowing how to save. Start from a little amount, and make it a habit.  Parents must set a definite budget and let them handle their money wisely. Living away from home is a test of budgeting skills.

Time Management
School - home - leisure. We all have 24 hours each day and it’s a challenge how to manage and divide it equally. Proper time management is part of being responsible. Knowing what to prioritize and what not to like extra curricular activities is a great challenge to most college students. Keep in mind that aside from studies, leisure and rest are also important.

When parents are not around, its time for the young adults to shine. Wake up on their own, cook their own meals, prepare their clothes and all other daily activities that they usually don’t do way back home. Your kids are already young adults, let them live on their own. It’ll make them better persons.
