With last time, Leicester winning the title, we thought that we will never see the typical EPL again and it is time to switch some gears but now again English Premier League is moving toward its best. People who have shifted towards La Liga or Serie A are coming back to witness the greats of soccer.

Here we are talking about the second last week of English Premier League when Guardiola and Co. was very near grasping the first spot, as they were against Chelsea Both sides had early opportunities to get ahead in the game but none could score until the 45th minute. Cahill probably had a bet to score a stunning goal. To win his bet, he scored past his own keeper with a deft touch on Jesus Navas’s cross that flew into the top corner of his own net. Man City went into the break leading. Second half started as openly as first half but this time Chelsea were eager to score and Costa opened the scoring for Londoners in the 60th minute before Willian found the back of the net in 70th minute to provide his team with 1 goal advantage. Man City were pouring men forward in search of an equalizer but were punished by Hazard on the counter attack. Losing 3-1 to title rivals was not bad enough for the citizens so they decided to initiate a fight that saw two of their star men, namely Aguero and Fernandinho, receive straight red cards. The result saw Chelsea keeping their top spot while Man City, much to despise of Arsene Wenger, dropped to 4th position. David Moyes has been doing an exceptional job with Sunderland and is going in the right direction in order to steer Black Cats away from the danger zone.

On the other hand United administration is holding their heads after seeing the ugly performance of Jose The Genius who is consistently failing to gather some points and ensure some European Football if not the title. But arrogant Zlatan is busy taking selfies with Rashford and Young while Paul Pogba is still at the barbers.

Sunderland recorded an inspirational win over the English champions. Huth scored an own goal to gift Black Cats lead in the 64th minute before Defoe doubled it in 77th minute. The Foxes have lost their form domestically. They are just 2 points clear from the drop zone and if they do not recapture their form soon, they could potentially face the drop. Okazaki pulled one back for the champions in the 80th minute but it was too little too late. Spurs hit top gear against the helpless Swans. Swansea was on the receiving end of 5-0 thrashing that saw them hit the rock bottom of the table and are now prime candidates to get the drop while Spurs are now 4 points away from 2nd place. Saints also suffered a similar fate as of Swansea City as they were thrashed 3-0 by Crystal Palace. Benteke has hit top gear at Crystal Palace after his failed move to Liverpool. Liverpool must have some sort of jinx for their strikers as both failed acquisitions namely Balotelli and Benteke have found their previous form and are scoring for fun. Speaking of Liverpool they were at their best against Bournemouth as they surrendered 3-1 lead to lose 4-3. The match was a nerve wreaking to say the least. As a result Liverpool missed the chance to leapfrog arsenal on the points tally. Arsene Wenger’s love for 4th place seems to gone. Gunners gunned Hammers 5-1 to take 2nd spot on the league table, Just 3 points behind Chelsea. West Brom faced Watford this week and continued their impressive form with 3-1 win over the Hornets. West Brom have climbed up to 6th spot while Watford slip to 11th place. The last match was scheduled between Everton and Manchester United. Manchester United under Mourinho is just some ordinary club. United were leading 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Ibrahimovic until agent Fellaini came on as a substitute to rescue his former club. Fellaini gave away a penalty in the 87th minute as he brought Everton’s attacker down in the box. The resulting spot kick was calmly converted by Baines. Mourinho’s side suffered a draw yet again and are now 9 points out of the top 4 and it seems as they will miss another season of Champions league…

Now Chelsea is on the top but still half of the league is remaining, we all know about the capabilities of Pep and Klopp so yes, they can give Chelsea some tough time. But still for now they are more focused on the Christmas parties.
