Civilization has always been an integral aspect of World History. Around a thousand years ago different clans built small/big riverside civilizations. When we think about our glorious history, the first thing that strikes our mind is the rich culture of Harappa- Mohenjo Daro, Indus, and Egyptian civilizations. Egyptian civilization was one of the dominant civilizations of the Mediterranean World. It was established around 3200 B.C., i.e. almost 50centuries ago. Egyptians were all about relishing a luxurious lifestyle that featured  expensive gemstones and advanced technologies. According to the research of several archaeologists, Egyptian culture was all about enjoying the royalty. Due to the humidity in the climate the costumes worn by Egyptian Pharaohs were too lightweight, so they wear heavy jewelry to admire themselves, showing off wealth as well as to protect them from evil spirits. The jewelry had such a big control on people’s minds that children in Egypt below 6 years of age did not wear clothes but they were surely decked up in jewelry.  It is said that in ancient Egyptian civilization people used gemstones and jewelry at the time of mummification.

If you look at the way Egyptian culture in films and advertisements is portrayed, you will see models wearing bright colors like blue, golden, etc. Further,  the jewelry is also traditional and heavy. Therefore it is evident that in Egyptian culture both men and women were fond of wearing elaborately designed jewelry during the Egyptian civilization. In old Egyptian culture, Pharaohs (king of Egypt) were considered the most respectful people in the society. All the men and women in that family had the habit of engraving a vast quantity of gold in their jewelry. The modern trend of customization originated from this century when Pharaohs had specially customized jewelry for them. Gold and copper were the most used material in jewelry but rather than that Pharaohs used to wear a rare semi-precious stone, which is called Lapis Lazuli.

Some stones and colors used in Pharaoh Jewelry were used with special significance, some of them are believed to bring good fortune. Some colors are believed to provide positivity and health benefits. Rather than traditional typical elaborative jewelry Pharaohs believed in wearing symbolic jewelry like amulets to bring prospects in their lives. For pharaohs, jewelry was a way of personal adornment and showing off to the aristocracy. There was also a practice of using scarab which had a particular religious significance. Scarab was a sign of rebirth, so it was essential to ensure the re-incarnation.

Pharaohs also used to adore colorful stone beaded jewelry to ensure their safe journey to the afterlife. The spiritual belief was very strong at that in Egyptian society. At that, every religious stone has its value. For example Emeralds for fertility and immortality, Malachite for healing, Turquoise for bright future and happiness, Garnet for anger and victory, Carnelian for stability, protection, and purifying blood, Amethyst for royalty, and Obsidian for death. Each person used to wear a signet ring to maintain their family legacy. Animals like hawk, lion, and scorpion were engraved on those rings to depict the strength. Other than rings Armbands, Girdles, crowns were also worn by all the Pharaohs. The Pharaohs had the special privilege to do a navel piercing, but for others, it was a crime, which led them to the death sentence. Pharaohs also used to engrave antelopes, birds, eagles, jackals, and tigers on their jewelry.

But in the recent era, people are negligent enough to buy these antique heavy pieces of jewelry. But still, if you wish to give a unique and traditional touch to your jewelry Jewelry America is here with a variety of ancient Pharaoh Style pendants.
