Advertizing using Commercials

Many people hate watching commercials... actually, it might be a guy thing. When I watch TV with hubby we never watch commercials... ever. In fact he is so good with the clicker that we can watch a couple of shows at a time as well as a sporting event and even I would know what is going on in all of them.. and not one time would I of seen a commercial.

Truth is, I like to watch commercials. I have been paying extra attention to them lately. After one has finished I find myself usually saying stupid commercial. I didn't even realize that I was doing it till last night when I must of said it louder than normal and from the other room Hubby asked... "why didn't you like that one".

It got me thinking... what makes me like one commercial over another. There have been many memorable commercials over the years. But the thing is I may recall the commercial but I might not be able to remember what it was promoting.

Do you remember the older lady saying, "where's the beef?" I can see it now but I must admit I have no idea what it was promoting. I think it was a fast food chain perhaps Arbys?

I sold insurance for many years... but it was not until Aflac stated using that duck did Aflac become a household name. Now maybe it is because I actually know what they are promoting but I think they do a great job making the consumer aware that they are an insurance company. People may not be sure what type of insurance Aflac sells but I bet they know they are an insurance company.

Then of course there is "MIKE MIKE MIKE.... do you know what day this is?"... Loved that commercial... to this day I have to chuckle when I think about that camel!... It has not been that long ago that it was on all the time but at the moment I couldn't tell you what that camel was promoting.

Without a doubt my favorite commercial of all time to this day is the one about 2 guys going on a road trip learning Spanish.... Not sure what it is about that one that I just love.. but to me it is brilliant. In a pinch I wouldn't be able to tell you what kind of car it is promoting but I do know for a fact that it is one that gets GREAT gas mileage.
