Advantages Of Using Thermoplastic Paint For Road Marking

by Sagar Chauhan Digital Marketing Analyst
Every road in every country has a marking that is either embedded or taped or painted that guides the road users. These road markings are quite useful as it helps in avoiding any traffic hazard and also helps in the smooth movement of the traffic. Hence, it is important that the markings do not wash off or fade away. For road markings, thermoplastic paint is used which is a mixture of synthetic resin, fillers, glass beads, etc. To use the paint, it needs to be melted and hence, it is popularly known as hot melt thermoplastic road marking paint.

The paint comes in the form of powder which is heated and put in a specialized machine at the time of road construction. The hot paint goes through a marking machine which is controlled by the operator. To ensure that the paint does not fade away too soon, wax can be added to the paint to retain its color. The paint is very useful as it can be seen clearly even after dark, increasing safety on the roads. Since it is also cost-effective it is widely used when the roads are made.
There are many advantages of using this paint and some of which are listed below.

The paints are perfect for Road Safety

When you talk about road marking, the first thing that comes into the mind is road safety. The paint is highly reflective which makes it easier to notice during bad weather conditions or at night. This helps to ensure that the road is safe for driving even if the visibility is very poor in the area.

They offer an amazing durability

The thermoplastic is very durable which is what makes the paint very unique. Since the thermoplastic material used in the paint is durable, it stays for a long time. Hence, the marking need not be painted again and again and in turn, saves money in repainting it. You can also save the cost of maintenance and replacement of the paint. It can also be used on any surface as the glass particles used on the paint helps in controlling the skidding of any vehicles.

These paints can have Multiple Layers

To give an elevated look and feel to the markings on the road, multiple layers of paint can be used. This is usually done for rumble strips and hence, when a driver passes through the strip, he or she can feel the vibration. This is ideal for places or areas that are dangerous and are accident-prone as the strip slows down any vehicle passing through it.

These are water-resistant and dry up fast

The thermoplastic road paints are water-resistant and hence, it neither fades away nor washes off when it comes in contact with water. Also, unlike other paints, this paint does not need too much time to dry off. It dried up very quickly and hence, you do not need to block the road for long.
