A Guide for Choosing the Right Pot for Your Plant

Indoor plants introduce texture and color to your interior space. Indoor plants work as a focal point of a room. If you want to enhance the look of your living room, then pairing pots and plants is very helpful. Choosing the right Pot for your plant is a bit challenging.

If you pick too large a pot, then the plant may be susceptible to root rot as the soil dries slowly, and if you go for too small pots, you will need to water frequently as the soil dries very fast, a plant can be root bound.

If you have a large plant, choose the Pot of the same size in which it is growing and when you report a smaller plant, take a pot 2-4 inches larger in diameter. Some indoor plants grow quickly. Select the largest size pot for them, and for slow-growing indoor plants, you can take 1 to 2 inches larger Pot.

Terracotta pots are fragile, but they offer beautiful patterns and are also heavier than plastic pots. You will need to water more frequently as these pots are porous. The plants that like dry or well-aerated soil, terracotta pots are perfect for them.

Pots should have a drainage hole at the bottom to allow water out and air in. Using a pot is not only a matter of aesthetics but also the size and shape; when you choose the right Pot and potting mix, it provides the direct result with your plant.

Terracotta pots are costly but offer beautiful patterns. They are porous, so you will need to water them more frequently for plants that like dry soil like succulents, cacti, and orchids; Terracotta is a perfect choice.

Terracotta

Plastic

If you have plants that eventually grow covering the pots, then plastic is a good choice. Plastic pots are durable, retain moisture, and are inexpensive. If you have to rearrange your gardens, plastic pots are an excellent choice because they are lightweight. Don't use Dark coloured plastic pots as they absorb heat and damage the roots; light-colored pots reflect the heat and keep the roots cool.
