Morale in a company is vital. In fact morale in all walks of life is vital but it’s even more important when it relates to business. If you own a company or you’re a manager of a company that employs many staff, bad morale can spread through the company like a plague so it’s so important that all of the staff are kept as happy as possible. Obviously you can’t keep everyone happy but you can certainly try! You know what though, it’s not just pay rises and increased holidays that get people happy and motivated. The little things are often just as important. Here are a few small things that could add a little ray of sunshine in the workplace.

Instant Hot Water

OK so people love to get hot drinks when at work. But there’s nothing more annoying than having to wait 5 minutes for the kettle to boil. Now you can get instant hot water taps that present the user with an immediate hot drink which can be a lifesaver when coming in early in the morning! No one will have to wait for their caffeine injection ever again!

Wall of Shame

This isn’t to do with any work related performance, it’s more a fun little game you can play in the office. On the Friday, set a game up throughout the day and the loser has to put an embarrassing photo or photos up in a communal area like a kitchen or office wall. It can be a real laugh and will certainly put people in a better mood, apart from the loser of course but hey, you can’t please everyone!

Work Day Out

Organise a day out for your staff such as paint balling and go karting. It’s a great way to build up team moral and they’ll be plenty of stories and tales afterwards that will reverberate throughout the company and put a few smiles back on their faces! If you’re the boss, just remember to let them win a couple of times!

Targets

Setting regular targets and goals and rewarding the staff if they are met is another great way of adding a sense of fun to a business. You can set individual goals or team goals depending on your business model and the people within the business. Judge for yourself which works best and implement them with a reward that justifies the extra effort you’re enticing.
