4 Benefits Of Investing In Designer Brands

by Richard Meadow Freelance Writer

Sometimes when we’re shopping, we’re not consciously aware of where our clothes have come from, how they were made and whether the material will stand the test of time. With designer brands you are almost guaranteed a far more superior quality in terms of fabrics, ethical background and how long your clothing or accessories will last. In some instances, it can be beneficial to invest in designer brands over buying cheap throw-away clothing. Here are 4 benefits of investing in designer brands:

Quality

The incredible detail and intricacy on what goes into making a premium branded item is sometimes unfathomable. Brands will use superior materials and fabrics, personally vetted by them to be of high enough quality to then mass produce. An example of this is Creed fragrances, a brand that doesn’t overly advertise as it’s so confident in the value of their scents. They have personal relationships with their flower farmers, visiting the production sites and searching far and wide for the highest quality ingredients. It also shows the care and detail that goes into producing more luxurious items. The same can be said when it comes to clothing. For a designer brand selling mens luxury loungewear or women’s sportswear, they will be wanting to ensure the comfort of the pieces as well as durability.

Ethics

Designer brands tend to care more about who is making their products and how they are treated. Some high street brands have been part of the controversy surrounding the treatment of their workers in other countries. Luxury brands are not searching for cheap and convenient like most high street brands, they are looking for exceptional quality fabrics that represent their brand.

Longevity

In some cases, designer branded products are hand-stitched or handmade, not only does this add to the superior quality but also ensures longevity with high-quality stitching. Purchasing designer clothing usually means you keep hold of the pieces for a lot longer than you would any other brand, not only because it lasts longer but because it holds value when it comes to reselling prospects.

Resale Value

Buying luxury branded items should be considered more of an investment. In some cases, it can even be worth more now than it was when it was made – this can be the case if you’ve purchased something limited edition or something that is now considered “vintage” such as a vintage Chanel jacket. With everyday off-the-shelf brands there is little to no resale value, meaning that once your clothing had been worn out it’s either recycled or thrown away. With luxury brands, there is a stark difference. There are websites and apps that have been created specifically for the reselling of products such as Depop. In the case of personal pieces such as seductive lingerie or other negligee items, there is no resale value if they’ve been worn. However, handbags, clothing and jewellery are amongst the items that can hold their value and still be sold on after years of ownership.
