3 Different Types of Fabrics with Their Properties and Features

by James Brandon Shop More Save More
Fabrics come in different patterns, colors, and durability. All fabrics are different in their texture and usage specifications. While basically used to make garments, fabrics are also used to create a design in garments, some are comfortable to wear, and some are also used for décor as well as decorative and craft making purposes.

Out of all the fabrics you find, there are three which are common and you can find them with a wholesale fabric supplier in different types, sizes, colors, patterns and more. Now, I’m discussing with you about these fabrics:

1. Cotton
As a fabric, cotton is known for its comfort and durability that makes it one of the most popular fabrics used in apparel. It is also the widest product of natural fiber on the planet.

• Fear and Wear
It is a versatile fabric that is knitted into different fabrics like denim, jersey, flannel and more and each of these fabrics are slightly different in wear and tear. Cotton fabrics are soft and breathable that makes it perfect for warm climates and hot weather. It is best for those people who have sensitive skin.

• Durability and Care
High-quality cotton is super durable that makes it less prone to accidental rips or tears. However, it is not as durable as polyester and cotton/polyester blend. Cotton can shrink when subjected to a high temperature just like most natural materials. So, use cold water for washing them.

2. Polyester
Polyester is a man-made fiber that’s synthesized from petroleum-based products and it is becoming a popular option in the apparel industry. It is especially valued by those people who are looking at a fabric that withstands a lot of washing and wearing.

• Feel and Wear
Polyester is lightweight and it has a slightly silkier feel. It’s a perfect fabric for sports. It may feel slightly clammy in warm weather, but warm in cooler weather.

• Durability and Care
Polyester is very durable more than cotton and most of the blended fabrics. It is less absorbent than most fabrics, so it’s difficult to stain permanently.

3. Blended Fabric
Blended fabrics are created when two or more different types of fibers are combined together to create a new type of fabric with unique properties.

Blended fabrics have been developed to cater to specific needs such as improving the texture, durability, feel of the material or reducing the cost of apparel productions. Now, there are many different types of blended fabrics available in the market and there are some of the most popular blends for printed apparel like cotton-polyester blend, polyester-cotton-rayon blend, and polyester-spandex blend.

These are some of the fabrics that come with their advantages and you can find these in wide varieties and types from a quality and reliable wholesale fabric supplier at affordable prices.
