Miss Lead Foot
I have a lead foot, I always have. Speedy Gonzales could be my middle
name.
My lead foot caught up with me the other day, I got a ticket.
I live in a very small community, one of those that when your passing through if you
BLINK you will miss it... I am sure you know the kind.

I was headed out of town on my way to my favorite
junk store and holy cow I met a cop coming my way.. CRAP!
He whipped around and turned on his lights. I
traveled to a safe place for both of us to be off the road. He got out of his
car shaking his head as he walks up to me. He said, "do you know how fast you
were going?" I said... "I could see the sign that said..End of 25 MPH
Zone" He politely told me that it is only AFTER I PASS that sign is when the
END of the 25 MPH Zone ends. It is NOT when I can SEE it!
I have to admit, he caught me. I felt like a kid who had just gotten caught with the hand in the cookie jar.
He asked me how my driving record was. I told him it was EXCELLENT... up until now.
Mind you he didn't ask me how long I had been a speed demon, he was asking if I had ever been caught. He took my info and said, "let me see what I can do for you."

He came back a few minutes later and handed me my
ticket. He said he had done the best he could for me. He had written the
ticket for 5 over the posted limit. He told me he REALLY would of liked to of
been able to of done better BUT... I was just going way to fast to simply let
me go with just a warning.
I told him how much I appreciated what he had done
for me and I bid him a farewell.
After all... how bad could 5 over the posted limit
be?
I'll tell you how BAD 5 over the limit can be... 100 BUCKS BAD and I had 20 days to pay it.

I am very glad he didn't write it for what I was
really going, I would of had to of pawned
some stuff for a loan.
some stuff for a loan.
A few weeks after I paid my ticket, all the while
hoping that my husband wouldn't find out, I received a letter from the State.
The letter indicated to me if I could show them proof that I passed a
defensive driving course they wouldn't report my 2 points to my insurance company. Sounded like a deal to me. Anything to keep my husband from finding
out.
Included in the letter was a whole list of places
that I could contact to make arrangements to take this course. After calling
many and looking at the websites as well as getting the prices I called back
the one that was half the price of the others. I asked if this was indeed the
course that I was to be taking and if so why was it so much cheaper than the
rest that I had contacted. The little gal told me they prided themselves on
being the most reasonably priced.
I hated school so the thought of taking a test at
my age was making me extremely
uncomfortable. I thought I better call them again and see what I was getting myself into. Perhaps the insurance company finding out wouldn't be so bad after all.... BUT then once again I thought of my husband finding out.... I called!

The sweet gal on the other end of the phone
politely told me that the actual test itself
consisted of 20 questions. What a relief.... I told her I had been speeding and driving for years, 20 questions about that subject would be a piece of cake.

She failed to mention it was 8 chapters with a
short quiz at the end of each.
But it was really very interesting. Infact... we
have a light that I have never been very sure when It is MY turn to turn.
After reading the information I know just what to do. It is those other
people I have to look out for because I am certain that they have no clue when
it is really their turn.
I am proud to report that I passed my test on the
FIRST try. Gosh was I glad that was over. they notified the State and my
husband is none the wiser, and I hope it stays that way.
In addition to the test I took for Speedy Gonzales
people like me, they also offer tests for reducing your insurance premiums,
special test for mature drivers and test for driver education and the best
thing it is all done online

Cindy, thank you i think i will write some stories one day soon. Speaking of keeping your eyes open. I got tired of drinking coffee as much as i needed it. But there was always the bathroom thing that as we get older does NOT give much warning (laughing here) it's not so easy to park a 72 foot vehicle and just run in to potty. So i switched to the starbucks chocolate coffee beans thinking yeah i won't have to stop as often lolol...Well you know women and chocolate, i was, ooooh these are good!!!

Not a trucker but I did do a lot over driving when I was living in Florida. At least 2 trips a year. I'm lucky all I need is some upbeat old school music that I can squawk along with at the top of my lungs and I'm good!

Karen I am certain people would love to read stories about your travels especially about the history part and how things have changed.
I know that I would.
I get so tired of all this copy and paste crap that so many people post. I would look forward to reading them all.
I happen to know Sam and Joe Spider would as well!
You have given me ideas for 2 stories
#1 London Bridges falling down..... falling down.
#2 They were kicking that poor shivering, hungry, mangy dog at that back wood

LOL Cindy,
Yes i have many stories of being on the road, the scenery was breath taking. I had previously sat at a desk for 30 yrs working in and R & D occupation, so this was a fun job for me. I got to see places i remembered as a child my parents took me to, but did not realize where they were, and got paid to see it!!!. I also got to see a whole lot of family and friends all over the USA. I love history so this was a great way to many things. Many times i found myslef along the Louis n Clar

Welcome Karen
I could not of ever driven a truck or a living
I would like to of gone the different places but I prefer to be a passenger.
Driving with the wipers on makes me sleepy... I would of had to of pulled over when it rained.
That would of been a bit cumbersome if I were on a deadline.

Cindy,
Great story, i was a professional truck driver at one time, and still hold the license. And you are lucky you are able to do a traffic school they do NOT offer that to folks with Commercial licenses. I am glad this all turned out well for you, smiles...Karen

Oh yes I had a bumper sticker on my car that read "My work number is 911" And you only got it through APCO membership and the cops all knew it. I won't tell you how many times I blew through Mobile, AL with a cop on my tail who would suddenly decide to pass by me and wave lol!

Gosh Sean thanks.. I am blushing in deed
Well wait till I tell you about the time I told the cop
"Lets NOT Quibble!"
I still can't believe I said that to him.
Cheryl... I use to get away with all of them but then my brother retired and I am no longer able to use that "IN" any more Gosh I think I will write about that one too.
Gotta love connections.... I ain't to proud to beg
