Scottsdale History Hall of Fame Dinner Honors Contributions to Community
Being either a longtime resident of Scottsdale or the new owner of Scottsdale real estate, we have a great way to get connected with Scottsdale. You can be a part of Scottsdale’s 2011 History Hall of Fame inductions. The awards will take place at 5:30 pm on April 19, 2011 at the Chaparral Suites Resort & Conference Center. The awards are given to recognize outstanding contribution and service to the greater Scottsdale community by individuals and organizations.
This year’s individual recipients will be Chet Andrews, Bob Howard, Nancy and Ralph Night and Oliver Smith. The organization who will be honored will be STARS: Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services.
Chet Andrews is a former engineer with SRP and a U.S. Navy Reservist. He has logged many hours as a volunteer in the Scottsdale community. He was instrumental in creating the Preserve Steward program which seeks to train people to become Stewards and build leadership in preserving the beauty of the area. He is the past president of McDowell Sonoran Land Trust and the Sertoma Club.
Bob Howard is a much celebrated attorney and ASU graduate. His accomplishments include service for over 30 years as Judge Pro-Tem for the City of Scottsdale. His leadership has extended to Partners for Paiute Neighborhood Center where he has set up a legal assistance program. He also happens to be the 2001 winner of the coveted Funniest Person in the Valley Award.
Nancy and Ralph Knight are being heralded for forming the Greater Pinnacle Peak Homeowner’s Association. They have tirelessly worked with the City of Scottsdale to help preserve the desert and mountain areas. Nancy will receive the award for both herself and her late husband’s service.
Oliver Smith is a recognizable Scottsdale businessman and owns Olvier Smith Jewelry. He is the chairman of the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy and works for many charities to help them raise funds. He serves on many Scottsdale boards and commissions including the Scottsdale Charros and Rotary Club.
