Visit the Aircraft Boneyard in Tucson

The Pima Air and Space Museum offers exclusive bus tours of the Boneyard which is located adjacent to the Museum at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. The Boneyard now includes more than 13 aerospace vehicles and 4,400 aircraft from the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy-Marine Corps and several federal agencies, including NASA.
Background: According to the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base website and fact sheets, after World War II, the Army's San Antonio Air Technical Service Command established a storage facility for C-47 and B-29 aircraft at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Today, this facility is the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (309 AMARG), a specialized facility within the Air Force Materiel Command structure. AMARG provides critical aerospace regeneration and maintenance capabilities for a wide range of military operations.
Details: Tours are given Monday through Friday (excluding federal holidays). Seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and guests much check in at the Pima Air and Space Museum Admissions office a minimum of one hour prior to tour departure time. Departure times are seasonal, so call ahead for current tour times. The tour bus boards at the Museum entrance and each tour lasts approximately one hour and thirty minutes.
