It is a tuff world for musicians and bands
Holland is a country of music lovers, not only to listen to; many Dutch are member of bands, cover bands and local amatuer music clubs like fanfare and harmonie as they are called here. And than there are also a lot of composers and song writers. Many of them are very good and if your are passionate about music you want to share it with the world, you want people to hear your music. Some will just want to share it because they are proud of it while others have to objective to get more musical gigs or to break through and take their music to a professional level.
So many spend money to record a CD in a studio, hoping to sell it.
I know several bands and coverbands who tried that. Sure they sold CD's to fans, family and locally. But than it stopped. The whole things just covered the costs.
In Holland there are also talent shows on TV for musicians and singers but unless they are winners they are all forgotten soon by the general public.
And it aren't always the best that break through. The ones with connections in the music scene have a chance but for all others it is tuff.
However things may improve now for musicians, singers and music composers. With all new technologies that are now available is has become more easy to spread the musical word and also to find gigs, sell digital downloads, find new musicians etcera.

We have started a new initiative (DIR-ACT) for musicians & artists last year.
Mainly because new talents don?t get a chance, managers who promote you also ask a big commission and all other online publicity is expansive.
The website we have created is a global online platform where musicians & artists have their own page and can accept booking.
registration is free.

Interesting article, I have been a musician for over 25 years. In my younger days I tried to break into the music business but with little success. The one thing I have learned over the years is you can't force it. People have to like what you do.
Now with the technology that is with us today it is so much better. The days of making millions with your music are finally coming to an end and a new fad of locals are able to get there music out to the world for just about absolutely nothing. Thes
