How Appraisal System is Work in Corporate House?

As we know, every good company has a policy of appraisal. In appraisal system, employee?s performance has measured and according to his performance, his next promotion would decide. Appraisal can be done by many ways but most of time, superior?s rating matters a lot. That?s why many times we heard, if boss would happy, our life in company would increase. And now boss is replace by superior.

 

This rating system gives birth to dirty politics which erases all amicability, integrity and honesty among employees. Employees don?t miss any chance to show other?s performance is not at par instead of proving their own skills in better manner. Let?s have a look of one scenario in Information Technology (IT) Company. Ten employees are in a team and working on a project which is lead by a project manager. All team members working hard on that project, but appraisal would be provided to only one employee because in a system everyone can?t lead. Thus, game has been starting called dirty politics.

 

In a team, a person name John, is very fast in working and completed his task before time. Another person name Mark who is very good in giving ideas which are helpful for the project. And third person name is Roy who is smart and knows well how he can play his cards. Roy requested to John to help him in his work because John already finished his work and Roy convince him that he is not feeling well, but next time he will help in his work. John agrees to do Roy?s task.

 

Then, Roy went to project manager and told him, he already finished his task. Project manager gave him a pet on his back and asked about other team member. Roy told him that John is slow in doing work; you can see he is still doing his work. And regarding Mark? Roy told him, he is very cunning, always agitate other team members about you that you are not supporting the team in good manner and he is the one who is giving ideas that?s why project is progressing. Now, work has done by Roy.

 

In last, Roy got his appraisal which was well deserved by him. John did not get any appraisal and Mark has put into watch list. However, rest of the team members were just followers, they got marginal hike in their salary.  This is just a glimpse inside of a corporate house and unfortunately, it is very hard to nail down such politics.
