If a dinner is involved then volunteers are asked for in order to purchase the food, to cook it, serve it and clean up. By everyone having a small job to do or sharing a job, it can be done very easily.
Dinners take a lot of work but can be successful if handled in a professional manner. Some formal affairs take bids on desserts or raffle items. These usually are rather expensive dinner tickets so something other than spaghetti must be served. A general dinner, at a reasonable price, can also be profitable, especially if there is a raffle. A donation box or donation envelopes on the tables should always be available for those who wish to give a little more.
Some schools still have the students raise money by selling magazines or other items door to door. This is no longer a good thing to do. It is not only dangerous but raises very little money.
