There are so many self improvement information available at the click of your mouse that you could possibly be thinking, oh not another one of those! what's the point? I've seen and heard it all before. Think again...

When you get to that stage where you suddenly realize how quickly your life is going by, you may start looking within yourself, and find you have a lot of unanswered questions about the quality of life you're currently living.

Suddenly you find that you can no longer accept the shallowness that was once perfectly normal, and you start examining the life you've lived so far. Have I done my best to make a difference? What is it that I'm missing? Could I have done more to help others along the way? the questions can go on, and on until you start feeling lost, and confused.

Then you stumble across a self improvement article that raises even more questions in your mind because it claims that  it is not too late to start living the life you were meant to live. Does that sound familiar? Perhaps you're shaking your head in acknowledgment because it sounds very familiar.

Maybe you will start feeling anxious because you're no longer sure about who you really are, but it's OK! that's a normal reaction to your thought process. You may even feel completely out of whack because your life seemed good up to this point. You were reasonably happy with your adoring spouse, wonderful kids, and a job that made sure you could pay those monthly bills.

What exactly is your problem then? why are you so unsettled in your own skin?

Could it be that you had convinced yourself to the point of actually believing your passion and dreams no longer mattered? Rubbish!

Here are ten steps that can help you move towards creating the life you've always secretly wanted.

1. Allow Yourself To Dream Again. How vivid was your imagination as a child? Why are you no longer spending time dreaming about who you want to be when you grow up? or the goals you want to accomplish? Do you ever day dream at all, and enjoy doing it? if you don't, then why not?

2. Look Within Yourself To Find Happiness. Become fully aware of who you are, and what makes you happy. Only you can do this for yourself. Learn to appreciate the person within, and strengthen that relationship.

3. Be Honest About Your Personal Needs. Take the time to figure out what you need as a person. Stop surviving, and start living at once. Take steps to get your finances in order, de-clutter your life by throwing out what you no longer find useful, or never use. Stop the mental energy draining practices you take part in because it's completely useless.

4. The Past Is The Past - Accept It For What It Is & Then Move Forward. Stop dwelling on what you could have, would have, and should have done. The question needs to be "What can I do now?" Getting stuck at "Why?" takes away your power, and prohibits you from moving forward. Grab your power back by proceeding confidently forward with the knowledge that you are not defined by your past alone.

5. You Are Never Alone - Someone, Somewhere Loves & Cares About You. Life can become very overwhelming so ask for support if you need it. It's alright to need others, facts is we all need someone at some point in our life. Go get professional help if you feel ashamed, or scared to ask those in your life for a shoulder to lean on. If you cannot afford a therapist, get your hands on a library card, and use it find empowering self improvement books to help you figure out the things that are bothering you. Consider joining a local support group, and go to the meetings as often as you can. You will surely discover that a lot of people are actually feeling the same as you and are willing to lend a helping hand.

6. Always Be Grateful. Remember to show gratitude for the blessings in your life. Keep track by making a list, and add to it everyday. Spend a little time each day acknowledging, and appreciating the things in your life that you're truly grateful for. It really is true that "An attitude of gratitude creates more."

7. Embrace Your True Passion. Although it may have been some time since you allowed yourself the luxury of indulging in your true passion, it is still there within you. Allow yourself the pleasure of following your passion and you will feel alive again. Be inspired by those who are embracing the positive things that brings them true joy, and follow suit.  What have you got to lose? you're already unsettled in your own skin so why not try something different?

8. Take A Risk. Decide on firm action, and take a risk because "nothing ventured is nothing gained." All the self help articles, books, and groups in the world is not enough to get your life to the where you would like to see it. You have to implement action, and be inspired enough step outside your comfort zone.

9. Take A Deep Breath. When under stress constricting our breathing is a natural response and we forget to take deep full breaths. Oxygen is not just for keeping us alive, it also plays a huge part in producing energy, and keeping us healthy. Taking deep breaths is a great way to feel better instantly. Test this theory by trying it out right now. Stop reading and take 7 deep breaths and you will see that you feel much better after. Go ahead try it...

10. Put Fun Back On Your Agenda. Connect with friends, catch that movie you've been meaning to see, go for a nice long walk, or schedule an entire day that is dedicated to enjoying the things that make you happy. I not only dare you to do these things, I also promise it isn't going to hurt you in anyway. In fact your quality of life is guaranteed to improve tremendously.... try it and you'll see.

"Dance like no one is watching" do this everyday and I'll be dancing right along with you in spirit. That's not optional, it's an order my friend because I care about you. Now get Footloose....
