A Scam by any other name is still A SCAM!
A scam is a scam, it does not matter how much the creators of the scam attempt to make it legitimate. Unfortunately as always there are people who can't see past the free dollar signs in their eyes.
Payboxme is a scam period. Why else would they be trying to look identical to an established legitimate payment processor called Paybox. they have gone so far as using an identical logo with a different color scheme. So they are using a fig leaf to disguise the scam, in this case 'copycatting' a legitimate site.
I wrote a blog on 2.0 about these fig leaves and I see the fig leaf approach still works. Sadly the majority are falling for the fig leaf. Let me tell all of you why that fig leaf is there. To con gullible people into joining this site. And people are joining. Just like with any scam, there are those who see this for what it is. And just like with any scam the marks defend it.
Well the day will come when this one hits somebody's radar. The way it's being promoted hopefully it will be soon. When it hits the radar I can guarantee that you will not be able to find those behind it. You can't find them now.
Try asking yourself a few questions here:
Why is there not an actual corporate site for the scheme?
I have hunted and hunted and not yet found anything except referrals links boasting that you can get $50 free for signing up.
Why is this site so closely tailored to looking like and imitating an existing legitimate site?
Interestingly enough when you search for a corporate site for the scam, you find the legitimate site and they are two different things.
Why is this not endorsed or promoted by the legitimate site?
If you look at the partner programs you see nothing at all about this scam.
Why is the $50 not actual real legal tender?
What exactly can you spend that Monopoly money on, a hotel for Boardwalk because you certainly cannot spend it in the real world. Your paybox dollars are worth zero-nada-nothing-zip. Nothing times fifty equals ZERO so guess what you actually have when they give you that fifty bucks. That's right! Nothing!
I will only say that I sincerely hope the authorities catch this one before too many people get hurt by it.

If you try running just plain Payboxme you find it comes back to someone in China who does not seem to exist at all but owns almost 2500 domain names including Payboxme which was just registered on Sept 13th and which in two weeks has blasted up the Alexa rankings.
The legitimate Paybox Services based in France was created June 1998 and is quite openly available. Paybox.com belongs to them. If you would like to visit the legitimate site and see what I mean by copycatting you can go to www1.p

Please feel free to share the info on this one. Yes people are promoting this on like crazy. Possibly due to the copycatting. The logos and url's are extremely close. Some people are probably doing some due diligence and because of the similarities finding the legitimate site and thinking that it is this scam.

Cheryl, I hope you don't mind, but I would like to post this in the OU on Swom, another site I belong to. So many people on there are also promoting it. Thanks for this great information.

This Paybox.me reminds me of the never launched IM Crew, and Website Tester and I don't know how many countless others. I also know for a fact the the Big Extra Cash is another scam site. My account has sat on the same $35.50 since July 31. And today is September 23 and it it still on that same amount. hmmm They are supposed to pay per click, how does someone have 430 declined clicks. Just more food for thought. I think I will do a blog on them and let the cat out of the bag, I see so many

Yes it is still under the radar but a little investigating tells me it's only been around for a couple of weeks, in this incarnation at least.

I did not realize this scam was still under the radar or I would have said something myself. That what I get by assuming.

Yes, imitating a legitimate payment processing site regulated by banking regulatory organizations, then boasting that you are not regulated by anyone and handing out fake money left and right just oozes of credibility.
And yes I am being sarcastic. I'm not a member of the site and I have no intention of buying into a scam like this. I will however warn those who will listen of what it is before they get shafted. I'll just bet that everyone who has signed up for this has given their persona

Cheaters who claim a site is a scam (and often times they do) when they get caught. I have seen many sites labeled as scams when cheats aren't successful in stealing from honest members. It ruins a good site. Without positive valid proof of a claim, don't believe it.

Hmmm, now this is interesting. There were 2 more comments here which seem to have disappeared that were made by people promoting this 'opportunity'. Wonder why they felt compelled to delete their posts supporting Payboxme if it is such a wonderful legitimate opportunity?

And again $50 that amount to zero cents still leaves you with zero cents. Like I said those promoting this so hard are going to be the ones left holding the bag when it's all over.
This oh so great 'opportunity' suddenly appears around the 13th of September 2010. everybody and their grandfather is jumping on this imaginary $50 and trying to promote it to everyone they can promote it to. The creators are blatantly copycatting a legitimate site called of all things Paybox which just happens

I always look for a corporate website. If you put the name of a legitimate program into the search engine with the words corporate headquarters and nothing comes up or something that looks very similar but different comes up, treat it like the plague. Legitimate sites are not going to copycat and especially not to this extent.

Alamoshopper you wouldn't happen to be here in the great state of Texas somewhere in the vicinity of Loop 410 would you? :-)
It's always good when people avoid the scams, they don't have to kick themselves later.
