A mixture of solvents, fixatives, aroma compounds, and fragrant essential oils is often what is defined as perfume. It has been used for the purpose of giving a pleasant aroma to animals, living spaces, and people since ancient times. Thus there are many that consider it a form of art to locate the right scent for every occasion that might crop up. How then can that be accomplished in a satisfactory manner?

Fortunately there are scents that are available out there that will satisfy the preferences of almost any woman. Some of them are used to coordinate with a specific outfit worn for the day or during an evening out. Other scents are often used for the matching of the wearer's mood or what they have in mind to do, such as seduction, happiness, annoyance, and many others.

Who then is the one that is ultimately responsible for the creation of the lovely fragrances that we all enjoy? The man, or woman, that combines the oils and other ingredients is called a perfumer. They have also been known by the French word for nose, nez, because of their fine sense of smell and the expert skill they have for smell composition.

To begin a composition of a scent a perfumer must first receive a brief from his, or her, employer, or a customer that is from outside of the firm. These customers are often from various fashion houses, corporations, or other commercial concern. The process of blending together various mixtures and scents will then begin once what is needed is discerned. Once it has been concluded the formula and any of its variants will then be purchased by the customer.

Once the formulation has been purchased it may be used in a variety of ways. For example it may see use as an enhancement for other products such as an interior of an automobile, shampoos, soaps, and detergents. Other formulas will instead be marketed as a unique and fine fragrance.

When a fragrance is chosen by an individual certain factors should be taken in to account. These factors often include the weather, temperature, anything that causes a changes in skin chemistry, and the occasion that it will be worn for. Skin chemistry is important because it has an affect on the scent you wear. Some scents smell good in a bottle but not on the skin of a particular person.

Another question some may have about a perfume is how to apply it properly. Unfortunately many experts agree that there really is no right or wrong way to do it. What is worse is that there is a lot of techniques out there that you can choose from. For example some dab the fragrance on certain pressure points like the inner wrists and neck. Others use what is called the cloud method. It consists of spraying the perfume in front of you and walking into it as it starts to settle.

Perfume then has been around a while and has found to be of many uses. Enhancement of products such as soaps, detergents, and shampoo comes to mind. Others scents are used as a way to enable the body to have a pleasant aroma. Hopefully when the right scent is found the right technique will also be found to apply it to the body.
