Stress Related Ailments

by Ruben A. Online Article Writer

Not knowing that these ailments were caused by stress.

  • My normal blood pressure is 120/80.  It had risen to 130/90 and seemed to have stayed at that level ever since work volume had increased.
  • A couple of months later, I was sweating profusely while asleep.  When I get up I am drenched and soaking wet with perspiration.
  • Back and shoulder muscle pains.
  • The base at the back of my head had severe pain at one time that I thought was caused by high blood pressure.  Consultation showed that it was Cervical Muscular Stress (CVS).  The doctor described that muscles at my shoulders were sort of "twisted" restricting blood flow to my neck and head.
Except for the CVS that I had consulted, I determined on my own all the other symptoms were caused by stress after all were relieved when work load eased a little.  Also, finding time to unwind with family and rest for longer periods helped in alleviating my condition.

Consulting for the profuse sweating while asleep was frustrating because it was not conclusive.  I did not heed the advise to consult an endocrinologist because there was no attempt first to inform me of some tips that might help prevent it.

For more than 10 years now I have not put much trust on doctors diagnosis because misdiagnosis almost cost me my life in 1998.

Benny, my ability to accomplish physical excercise has diminihsed over the years; long hours at on the Internet; without taking breaks does not help either. Part of my physical dibilitation is from a spinal injury from my youth.

Consuming good water helps and taking stretch breaks helps circulation. I also wear a cool pair of shades to void headaches and eye strain, while working online.

Posture is also important:

~ both feet firmly on the floor/ground
~ sit up straight

also

- take frequent breaks, at least every 45 minues especially if you work long hours online

- consider not missing scheduled day meals and do not eat heavy foods at night

- ofcourse get some rest (I have been known to work straight two or three days in a row ~ I learned to take naps in 24-hour Internat marathons)

Thanks so much Jaz4U. Different conditions and situations are difficult to determine if they are a cause of some ailment or not. Lately, many physicians fail to directly address or diagnose even just symptoms. They actually take longer if they know you're on medical insurance or they know you have the money to spend.
If they can't mulct anything from you, they advise you to take so many second opinions until you decide to go back to them.
