LEARNING TO LEARN

I believe we have come across the learning several times in our lives. We learn always to adopt different situations .We also learn so we can acquire knowledge which we use to develop ourselves. We learn so we will be able to pass exams based on the knowledge acquired. So one may ask, what factors contribute to effective learning. That is the question i am here to help you answer.

*MOTIVATION

If you are not truly inspired to put all into learning, it will be difficult to achieve anything. The greater and clearer your reason to learn, the stranger the effort and interest you show in learning. This gives room for a more permanent leanring to take place.

*ATTENTION LEVEL

If you are inattentive in class, you may not understand most of the things you are taught. Many things come into your mind which distracts you from listening. it is important to pay more attention when you are learning, because the information coming to you is very useful and important to you.

*NATURE OF THE TEACHER

The nature of the teacher is also very important. Students benefit very much from teachers who are warm, open and respect the view of learners. Students who are encouraged by teachers to ask and answer questions without criticizing them help the learners very much. Teachers should also be knowledegeable in the topic and use the appropriate teachind aids.

*PHYSICAL CONDITION OF THE LEARNER

The individual should have major amount of fitness to help them learn. Sensory defects especially of the eyes, ears and fatique are some of the major contributors to ineffective learning.

*ACTIVE PRACTICE AND REPITITION

The individual should involve himself deeply in asking and asking questions frequently. It will make him aware of what he /she is learning. What is learnt should be relearned time and again. If they dont rehearse often, everything learned will soon be forgotten.

*DISTRIBUTED LEARNING

An individual is adviced to set specific times to study specific subjects because learning capacity decreases as you sit behind one subject for a long time. After learning for some time, one has to take a walk or chat for a while before continuing his or her studies.
