Why is the UK so backward?
This blog is aimed at the ever growing debate about the UK, in fact I am UK born and bred, adn have lived here all my life.
Now heres what bothers me, I work in IT and deal with the 2 big boys, Google and Microsoft on a regular basis.
What I find strange is that the UK is so far behind and when ever I deal with these people and take part in webinars or other I find that it is always a US based thing.
Why is the US so far ahead with this internet thing, does anyone have any ideas to share.
I woudl really like peoples thoughts on the internet in the UK generally.

I read an article the other day about Sweden actually having the fastest internet connection in the world. at guess how fast???

Well, here's proof that we're trying to catch up at least! Yesterday I recieved a flyer through my letterbox telling me that if I was "serious about improving my lifestyle" I could call for a free information pack or visit their website! Looks like things are moving in Shotton. LOL

Are we really so far behind? I guess in my part of the UK (small, north east village) I can understand it. Heck, the people here are still mourning the loss of the mining industry. They think the Internet is for their kids to get snaffled by all kinds of perverts!
But I would have thought that in your line of work we wouldn't be so far behind. I think maybe we just don't shout and cheer as loud as our US counterparts. Doesn't mean we're behind them, we're just getting on with it quietly

I don't think that the US is really ahead.. There have been so many bobbled attempts at advancement, and outright scams in IT ventures, that you simply cannot put your faith in the so called 'Leading IT Company" figures... Please believe me, Look at the Financial Market News, if you want an approximation of the truth...

I'm not sure that UK is so far behind, it just looks like that. What can tell others, which are so far behind UK about that?
But it's interesting that www is developed in Europe by british. Infrastructure and tcp/ip in US.
