Losing With Friends
I have not always had an issue with my weight. When I was younger I could eat anything I wanted and not gain an ounce. I was involved in alot of sports and remained active after school. Then even as an young adult I stayed active..its just that the activities changed, more dancing less long distance running..lol. When I met my husband some 16 years ago, I weighed about 135 which was on the slim side for my 5'7" frame. Well, when I stepped on the scales awhile back. It told me that I had gained 32 pounds overnight....okay...so it wasn't over night. But, it had snuck up on me. So I said to myself WOW 32 lbs....so I quickly figured it out to be a gain of 2 pounds a year..that in itself is not that alarming. But, add it up for 16 years and it was a major wake up call for me.
Its not like I sit around all day. I am active with my children. I work around the yard and home. What had caught up with me was age and metabolism. I knew if I was going to lose these extra pounds, I was going to have to increase my metabolism and take in fewer calories. I knew I had to build up muscle to increase my matabolism, so now when I go for my walks I wear ankle weights for extra resistance. I don't wear them when I jog though. I also have been using an air glider. I also eat a salad every night at the start of dinner. Then I enjoy smaller portions of the rest of the dinner.
This is working...I have managed to come down from 167 to 156 so far. I thought it would be nice to have a place to write about my progress or lack of it on somedays. And I thought it would also be nice to for other members to share their stories as well.
So feel free to add your stories, your encouragement for others, your victories, your set backs. It always seems to make the burden less when shared with friends.

I used my weight gloves last night for my walk/jog. I like the fact that there was added weight for my arms, and that I could still have total movement control over my hands. Such as still being able to tie my shoes if necessary.

I know I can lose weight -- once I put my mind to doing it.
I like to have a solid program set up consisting of certain foods that I will not eat and routine exercise. I love working out to music and aerobics exercises work for me.
I am trying to this new online gym where they offer incentives to help get you started and keep you going. I also have the chance to coach others.

I went shopping for wrist weights today. I ended up getting the hand gloves, they are very comfortable. I will be checking them out either a little later today or on tomorrow walk. It is always great having a new toy :) Lynn

Great subject! Yep, I used to be called "Bean Pole" or "String Bean"..or "Skinny Bone Jones" lol. I have been like a yo yo for a long time now. I still blame it on my two beautiful boys, at times..lol. They are getting too big now to say that anymore.
I would like to share what I did. I'm not advertising either..lol, I won't make a penny of it. Just what has, and is pesonallly working for me.
I have to go do some house chores right now, but I'll be back to do some reading, and add

Wendy,
The weights you have sound like a solid investment. I think I will look for something similar.

Congrats....I gained 10 lbs when I first started working at home. But I lost that thank goodness! My body was use to go go go go go...and then finally it came to a halt...lol...and plopped right in front of the pc. The house hold chores wasn't enough for my body!
Just so funny how easy it is to gain the weight..but how stinking hard it is to lose it.
I do what is called turbo jam. It is so much fun...and I look forward to doing the exercises!
Keep it up Lynn...I know you are feeling much b

I got mine quite a few years ago They are kinda cool
Can adjust them to whatever weight I want. Has neat little pockets where I can remove or add 6 different weights. I can even double them so I get twice the amount if I wish.
With velcro strap they fit both my wrist and ankles. One pair and versatile too.
Just love em

Wendy,
I have been thinking about getting weights for my wrists. I will most likely look for some this weekend. I know what you mean about tripping over them....I keep my ankle weight straps by my computer...hmmmm..chances are I will see them sometime during the day..LOL

You make some very remarks there. I too use weights. Switch them back and forth from wrists to my ankles depending on what I am doing.
Even when I do housework When I dust or even vacuum I put them on my wrists That is where the most movements are doing those chores.
If I am doing laundry and running up and down stairs I put them on my ankles. Even when I go to the store I slap them on my ankles (could care less what people think LOL)
Although I must confess sometimes I do forget So n

Lukach,
Yes, it is very important to lose weight slowly. This has been a slow yet steady process for me. So many people who starve themselves and lose the weight very quickly, gain it back quickly also. Because they have not changed their lifestyle. You need to make lifestyle changes in order to lose weight and gain strength. And then you need to maintain these changes in order to keep your weight loss and muscle tone.

The best thing is to go to your doctor
And to ask him to send you to a dietician to get a proper diet
I know I did and it's working just fine
The best way is to lose it slow
And workout 30 minute a day walking
Eat a lot of green vegetables
No sugar, cookies, cake
And you will be fine
I wish you all a great weekend
