Halloween: Keeping It Safe
Halloween is sneaking up on us pretty fast. And here are some tips to get you through the evening. You can get some of these done before the big night. Lots of kids will be out that night having fun. Most will be very excited. A lot of the costumes they wear limit their vision, and if they are loose fitting, you have to be careful of that also. Kids are just out to have fun, so we need to step up and do our best to help keep them safe.
1) Remove things the kids might trip over such as water hoses, flower pots, childrens toys, etc.. This helps protect the kids, as well as their parents who aren't as agile..lol
2) Turn on your porch light. If you dont have one. Try to have some kind of lighting set up for them.
3) Secure your pets
4) If you have candles in your pumpkins, be sure to put them in a safe place where they will not get knocked over or where kids could catch their costumes on fire.
These are just off the top of my head. Please feel free to add your tips that would make it a fun and safe night for the kids!

Parents should check all candy before your children eat any. Throw out anything that is homemade (unless you know who you're getting it from) or anything with a damaged or opened wrapper. Fruit should also be thrown away. It could be safe but why take the chance.
Also opt for make up instead of masks which limit vision. Another tip is to make sure ALL children in your group have a glow stick or other type of lighted item to make them visible to drivers. Also stay in familiar areas.
