Internet Security Tips
All users of business and home computers should be aware of a few basic security precautions. A lack of safe internet usage could result in untold losses for a small business. Basic security practices include the following:
1)Never open attachments except from trusted sources, and only when you are expecting one.
2)Make sure you have anti-virus software installed on your computer. And just as important, be sure to get new virus updates as they become available. McAfee's VirusScan is highly recommended, additional information can be found at www.nai.com.
3)Adjust the security options on your browser (in Internet Explorer go to Tools - Internet Options - Security).
4)If you are using a PC check the Windows Update site for critical updates.
5)If you have a DSL or cable internet connection, it is recommended that you install a firewall. ZoneAlarm is good - and free! See www.zonelabs.com.

Linda,
I can only tell you what I am doing. I use the same spy sweeper as you do. And I just went and bought another norton virus protection, because mine just expired. I run both, because there is a difference between spyware and a virus. But, these are the products that I use. You may want to buy a different brand. Some do complain that the norton makes some programs run slower. I really haven't had any problems. Lynn

I have just removed the Norton on my computer, but have Web Root Spy Sweeper, should I reinstall the Norton? I'm new at this and would really like to know. Linda

Thank you for your comment- as I do not represent any of these companies- the main point was to have protection. Depending on who was writing this and what they used the recommendation would of been different. I am sure that your products are good. I am just surprised to still find people with no protection, or people that open email just because its addressed to them. These are just standard tips- the actual choice of protection is up to the individual- they now have yours as an option. Its ju

Very good post! I just have to disagree with the recommendations! I am protecting customers that are users of these products ...to only find out they were not protected! I myself was using Norton and AVG..and found out I had over 80 hackers lurking in my pc! I am now protected by Invisus Direct. They have partnered with the 'Best of Breed' in Internet Security. Just to give you a few of the names, Sophos, Kerio, Counter Spy.....they also have FREE tech support right here in the US! Also w
