Diabetes@55

Life's to short! I just turned 55 years old in January 2007, and honestly I was feeling pretty good! Then my girlfriend Donna, asked, "Randall, how long has it been sense your last physical?" I said immediately! "A year or so!" She said, "Bull! It's been at least 3 years sense you've had a full physical. I'm making an appointment for you first thing Monday morning."

Well, as much as I hate going to the doctors! I 'm really happy Donna, made that appointment. What I don't understand is how a guy who was feeling great 3 weeks before! Suddenly has Type 2 Diabetes, and High Blood Pressure. I'm told, I should have seen it coming. It seems that both my Mother & Father had blood pressure problems, and dad has lost both legs to Diabetes, which covers the inherited issue, then there is the fact, that I'm carrying around about 20 extra pounds, and it's all, right over my belt, "The Diabetes Zone" and my exercise schedule is basically non-existent, my doctor told me, "I could be the poster child, for the American Diabetes Association." What she meant say was that I was a perfect candidate, for diabetes.

My doctor prescribed! Metformin and after researching the drug I found that under Brand names: Including Fortamet, Glucophage, Glucophage RX, and Riomet. That Medformin, accommodates some nasty side affects. For instance, some people have developed a life threatening disease called, "Lactic Acidosis," while taking Metformin. and according to Drugs.com "You should not use metfomin, if you have kidney disease, congestive heart disease or in a diabetic ketoacidosis, "Call a doctor."

That together with the fact that the last three people I talked to at the hospital! My Doctor, her Nurse and the Pharmacist, all reminded me that I would probably experience problems with diarrhea. Well, why the hell would anyone willfully take a drug, that most likely is going to make them sick?
