Biography of Rabindranath Tagore

Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) was an Indian writer and mystic. His verses contribute greatly to the mutual improvement of Indian and Western cultures.

Rabindranath Tagore was born on May 7, 1861 in Calcutta, India under British rule. He was the son of religious reformer Devendranath Tagore from a family traditionally devoted to spiritual renewal.

Tagore was educated because he did not agree with the constraints of classical instruction. Between 1878 and 1880 he lived in England, where he studied European literature and music.

Rabindranath Tagore was born on May 6, 1861 in Calcutta, India to a wealthy and educated Brahmin family.

Tagore was the youngest of the fourteen children born to Debendranath Tagore and Sarada Ravat.
