10 Ways to Help Your Child Succeed in School – the Right Way
by Mabrok Ahmad BloggerSchool is a
high-stakes game. It might not seem like it, but kids these days are exposed to
so much information through social media to make for a challenging environment.
If you want to help your child achieve success at school, then here are ten
ways to make that happen.
Focus on the
Process
Often,
parents spend so much time focusing on the results, on doing what they can to
help their kids achieve high scores in class that they lose sight of the
journey along the way. Don’t ignore that for the end-product. Take the time to
explore and enjoy the process along with your child.
Encourage
Expression
You can
help your child perform better if you are encouraging him to express himself.
Motivate him to say what’s on his mind. It can be as simple as letting him talk
about his day, describe a toy, or talk about his favorite game. I will help
your child to speak up at school.
Maintain a Sleep
Schedule
Please
don’t overload your child’s schedule that he has little to no time to sleep.
Give your child time to rest. Studying all the time isn’t going to help a
person absorb and retain information better. If he’s tried all the time, that’s
going to detract from his performance at school.
Meet the Teachers
Find a way
to meet your child’s teacher. Talking to the teacher will help you get an
update on how your kid is doing. Does your child need help with any subject?
Ensure the teacher knows that you can be contacted for anything regarding your
child, especially if there are any problems.
Know the School
If you’re choosing a new school for your kid, get to know it first. Look at its background and find out about the facility, teaching staff, curriculum, and more. How long has it been there? That should help you choose the best one out of the many schools in Dubai.
Check the Site
Go over the
site for information on the school year. Check the calendar and mark down
important dates. When is exam week? The site must also contain contact
information about your child’s teachers, so if you have any questions, you’ll
know where to find them.
Attend Conferences
Online
meetings can be tedious, but they are a chance for parents like you to
participate in school events. You don’t just get to hear from the teacher; you
can meet other parents, ask questions about the school, bond, and even form
lasting friendships as you try and build a community.
Ask Your Child
Always talk
to your child. Ask him what’s wrong. Make it a habit to connect with him every
day. Make these sessions a part of everyday interactions, so you know what your
child is doing.
Help with Homework
Provide
guidance when your child can’t seem to get through an assignment or project.
Offer a hand.
Prep for Tests
Review
sessions with your child will help a lot in helping them excel academically.
