December 10, 2010Creating Your Own Personal Brand, Part "TWO"

This is a follow up to the original article on Creating Your Own Personal Brand, if you have not read the first article.  Then this article will not enhance any of your abilities or talents you have as a Marketer on the internet. If you want to fully appreciate the value of this article, then take a few minutes, read and understand the steps there.

For all of us who have read and understand what the value on the open market is for understanding how our Own Personal Brand will be.  This is a very vital step of importance, our value in the open market. What price can l charge a client, how do l get more clients to listen to my concepts? We will all have a much better understanding these next four important steps to be applied immediately to your everyday life.

The most important investment you will ever make is when you decide to invest in your abilities and talent, but then again that is not enough to provide the Brand Personality.  What makes many very successful is the way people perceived them to be the very best they can be, they just stand out, from the rest. So today your going to invest in yourself, and understand how to Brand Your Personality.
Learn and Master These 4 Steps
1) Provide and deliver your message as clear as possible.  Let's face it, if someone is confused by what you are talking about or trying deliver, will they actually listen to you at all.  You know you have been tuned out by your client, wife, friend or who ever you are talking too.  Before you ever deliver a message just think of this power house, what Nike's says.
"Just Do It".

2) You need to have the ability to Motivate people.  Now what good would a message do if you do not have the ability motivate your team, down line, kid's, and who ever else that you need to motivate.  If your message has no enticement for them to take action, so what is your message specifically asking your listeners to do.
3) Have the ability to be able to confirm your credibility with style and testimonials.  You can spend countless hours telling your listener that you are the best that money can buy, but with out credibility what do you have. Think of some of the best ad's, that shout a clear message to all who hear and too this day stay has an effect.
"Wheaties"  The Breakfast of Champions
"Allstate" Your in Good Hands with Allstate
"Doctors Recommend Bayer's"
4) You have to be able to Trigger an emotion of your listener.  You need to feel and produce the adrenalin that "Maytag delivered the comforted and dependability of it meeting or exceeding your expectation.  You need to be able to trigger your listener in a fashion that you are not accustom to having at the moment. If you do not make this connection your entire strategy will be totally shot down.

I certainly hope that you start learning and executing these 4 steps that you have just read and in our next blog will provide you with additional steps of how to
"Creating Your Personal Brand"

Top Information for any marketer and a timely reminder of what we should be doing instead of what most marketers I see are doing, seems there are a lot out there that confuse Marketing with Advertising or simply don't know the difference.

I like the forth step of emotional connectivity with your listener or customers. One must be very good in Emotional Quotient (EQ) who not only understand himself but also his customers as well. In this way personal branding is easy and effective. Thanks Joseph.

A lot of what you are saying in your 3 posts Joseph, (Parts 1 and 2 of Creating your Brand, along with the one on Fear) relate to each of us in the off line world as well.

When, us old guys started out in the workforce, there was no internet, we worked in a face to face world. We started to build our "brand" - or - at that time - our "personal reputation" when we entered the workforce. That reputation and our word is what carries us through life both personally and professionally. So in some ways time haven't changed so much as the wording and the way we do business.

The people that become leaders, are the ones that incorporate all of your 4 steps listed in this article. That along with their "brand" or "reputation" make them valuable and sought after.

Really it's their "brand reputation" and leadership that is important both on and off line first, then it is the company, products, or programs they represent second (as long as they offer quality and value). That's why there is "head hunting" companies that search for quality reputable people to lead and represent new companies and products.

I just thought this was another way of looking at things, and to touch a bit on Fear:

Experience has helped me understand these steps, I didn't know them when I was just starting out, that's for sure.
Going back to your fear article from a few years back.......

Fear is really the greatest barrier to a persons success,,I forget who said that, but in saying that - you have to understand that it's really fear of failure - which you indicate in your article.
The thing to realize about "fear of failure" is that "failure" is really an event or situation, it is not a "person".
People have a tendancy to look at failure as being them, when it really isn't.............
When you look at failure as being an event or situation, then you realize that it is a learning experience, that can be used beneficially for yourself in the future.

Again an awesome topic and great information.

I relate branding in a similar manner. In the 80's and early 90's you always saw the commercials. "When E.F. Hutton talks, Everybody listens." Hutton made sure to give great advice backed by reputation and client reviews and so everybody truly did listen.

When you don't maintain the reputation and let it slide or reduce your ethics you become more like Charles Keating. Keating was on top of the world and had massive influence but then ran his ship aground on ethics violations and what many still today believe should have been charged as insider trading.

Online you are as good as your word, and your wisdom. You have to be personally sure before giving endorsements, and protect your brand by being consistent and being available.

Again, thanks for a great read.

I totally agree. When you brand yourself you set yourself apart from the others, competition does not matter if your brand is better.

The ability for one to stand out in what he/she is doing lies within the mindset he/she carries. If anyone sees him/herself as a failure, then attaining success will be fairy tale. Personal branding is what most people still don't understand; I say that because people would rather spend time promoting companies/products which in the real sense do not belong to them. I'm not saying it's wrong to do so, but when that becomes a priority, the chances of making it in business becomes bleak. The steps provided here by Joseph are a very vital steps; ones that will help any entrepreneur (Online or offline) to connect with with people better and gain good credibility. Thanks for sharing these tips Joseph.
