I just wanted to take a moment to welcome all new APSense members.
I have been to many Social Networking and sites and this to me is the
very best by far... Way above all the rest IMHO anyway.
I want to give a bit of advise to all new members as well to some that have been here awhile. This is in response to a question that is get asked a lot in a private PM.
The question is... "What is the MOST IMPORTANT thing I can do and the FIRST thing that I should do at APSense?
The answer is the same to..
~Most important
~First thing
SET UP YOUR PROFILE!!!!!!!!
Setting up your profile page lets people know who you are.
You don't have to write a novel. Just put a bit of info on it. Your profile is not engraved in stone. I have tweeked mine several times. I have added and I have also deleted.
What I hate to see on a profile page is BLATANT ADVERTISING!!!!
I want to know about you!!
After all it is YOUR profile.
APSense offers many places to advertise there really is no need for you to post all that crap on your profile page. Now I am not talking about posting your links of what you do I am talking about SCREAMING at me to join you. Most of it being nothing more than a copy and paste from another website... I am sure you know what I mean.
I have posted this next bit of info ofter over the years but this looks like a perfect spot again. Social networking site are for socializing, for meeting new people, making friends and looking for new business partners. I am not sure why that very simple concept is so hard for so many to understand.
Pretend your a social butterfly and your at a cocktail party. You flitter here and you flitter there. You go from one post to the next, along the way you are topping this and commenting on that. Your meeting new people and your making friends...
your SOCIALIZING. Your would never dream of dancing on the table at a cocktail party.
Dancing on the table at a cocktail party is BLATANT ADVERTISING!!!!
And that is something that you just DON"T do at APSense or at any other SOCIAL networking site, and NEVER at a cocktail party... ever.
I hope everyone enjoys their time here at this great place called APSense.
I know that I do. I am just trying to help you get the most out of it.

There is usually someone around that will be happy to help YOU.

HHCTB?Gosh I am BLUSHING!!! Thanks for the words of Kindness. Glad I could help. Your right about that advertising messages. Gosh I hate that. I will accept someone as a contact and not 2 minutes later I will get a copy and paste SPAM message from them. I delete them, I do not even read them. I always want to send them back my thoughts on that subject but I keep my thoughts to myself and hope they will eventually GET IT!! We can always hope for the best But.... First impressions are so important I usually never read anything that they post from then on. I guess I better work on changing that attitude, They may "Get It" and I miss it.  Small Business OwnerVery Very Well Said! Thank you. I wrote a post once about Social Networking, basically saying what you just have. I too detest the blatant advertising, worst are emails to my social network, spamming me without knowing anything about me or my needs. Crazy. Number one: Proper Networking Etiquette! RetiredA profile and the signature is very important, they are your online business card. And the picture on your profile page should be you as an adult. Not your kid, a logo, cartoon or group photo. It is best to use a picture of your face. Jun 15th 2011 08:48 |

RetiredLol, still love this piece and it is written with humor. And yes there is plenty of room for advertising and marketing on APSense. An underestimated one is the ABC expecially for people that do not own a site or have more than one. Hi Cindy, this post is one of your best. Many members have this problem and have kept quiet about it. You helped me out to resolve mine and I hope others will read what you have written and go back to put their signatures properly. I have done mine correctly and I have noticed that the site in my signature is visited daily from Apsense.
As you had said, profiles are meant to tell people about you and what you stand for and not just for adverts. I have even had people sending me advertising messages on mails to accept my contact request. Some have also done the same on testimonials sent on my pages. I ignore people like that and will have nothing to do with them. They constitute nuisance in this community.
Read the post again and learn from an achiever. Cindy, you are an achiever and I admire you for your doggedness. I will always read your posts because you always have something important to say.
