Feeling Blue?

As has been written about many times there is the whole mind~body link that you can set about improving upon a little bit each day. I found the outline for this list at a doctors office. It also has a list on the other side that you fill in for yourself. I'll describe that more at the end of this write up...

It's called Today I am going to do a WHOLE lot more

To do for Your Mind:

Take your meds or natural remedies....as per your research and your doctors advise!

Divert your mind: Simply read a book or magazine that you wouldn't normally pick up. Play an online game or do a crossword puzzle from an actual newspaper!

Reach out to your support group...Get together with someone... family, friends, or chit chat with the postman and grocery store clerks... or! go online and interact!

Go to a movie... that's a suggestion. The movie of life is playing downtown where you can just people watch. That's entertainment that costs Zero!

Listen to realxing music. Find your favorites on the radio? Maybe dust off an olde phonograph and see if the needle still brings sounds to your Abbey Lane Album? ... I'd have to put on my CHICAGO set that came out in the mid 70s  ...I may also have a couple of Jose Feliciano albums tucked away!

Write in your Journal ~ this can be interesting especially if your able to daily log your feelings and moods in a straightforward manner. Even in a simple graph or 1 to 10 rating system... You need to draw on your objectivity which means you will be seeking to see thru the fog of depression. That in itself is for the mind's wellness.

To do for Your Body

Go for a walk. This is not necessarily for exercise but to relax. Warm up your muscles and let the mind~body connection unfold while you enjoy the simple things in your neighborhood. You will be focusing your field of vision into the sky and then to the path beneath your feet and again to a tree or house or architecture or mode of transportation that goes by so fast that if you've been walking long enough to recognize your relation to your mind~body and the world beneath your feet... will seem totally unnatureal that a conveyance would even attempt to travel at such speeds!

Ride a bike. This is no doubt for the exercise but also for the mind~body... you will be slowly sailing and negotiating your world ... you might want to walk first! LOL! oh... that's just me!

Eat something healthy. Well ...this should go without saying? Right? Wrong... when you are depressed your ability to eat healthy is often times truly distorted. Make every effort to purchase healthy snack foods that are easily or already prepared like the bags of little carrots, bananas, granola bars, (I just thought of these because I need to get them myself!)

Take a relaxing shower.  Everyone gets to elaborate on this one in their own way!

Clean your room.  Let's see. Many of us no doubt take care of kids and the whole house and everything else and 'your room' would be neglected! What is said about that place where you sleep? Make it for when you sleep to get a good night's rest... Wait a minute! I thought this was to do for your body? oh... housework is exercise and good sleep is for the body~mind... ok everyone ... Go Clean Your Rooms!

Wear something nice.  This is one I'm working on. I like to stay in a sweatshirt and a warm jacket and any comfy pants but I guess it does me good to find something nice to wear! LOL.... So, today I put on my blue granmotherly sweatshirt that's embroidered with flowers and buttons down the front ... over a pink floral flannel shirt! LOL... didn't i feel special!

and last but not least on this list Shave.  So...let's not forget to shave! that must go along with Wear Something Nice?

For your own list:

There are 14 lines with circles where you can write in A WHOLE new list of things I want to do!

Many people who have other illnesses that cause them discomfort and pain utilyze these same suggestions. I have a book about that here somewhere. I'll see if I can find that also and share some of the ideas from that with you.

***Everything that is in BOLD txt  is taken directly from this list and the source isn't known... except the March 2007 date!  It had been torn off from a pad of paper and left behind and I'd jotted a note on it and took it home and just found it now when looking for a pencil! Wow... is that synchronicity or what?

Sounds as if it was meant to be here, Beth, and it's all good advice
too.
I often clean if I feel a bit depressed. Or go somewhere, even if it's
just for a walk around the block.
