Watch out the scammers are renewing their efferts with the City Bank Phishing emails.

I received 2 within a couple of hours of each other. they both lead to different urls but the string of characters at the end were identical.

They are easy for me to spot as I am not a customer of City Bank

It's amazing how much effort they put into it. I regularly get these from Citibank(not a customer), Wells Fargo(not a customer), Bank of America(prior to becoming a customer, strangley enough I have not seen one since I opened my account there) In addition to the Paypal, Ebay and AOL ones.

I regularly get those emails here in Australia, purporting to be from
Citibank. Since I'm not a customer, they're always deleted on sight.

Haven't had any about Wells Fargo or Bank of America though.
Ours are more likely to be Westpac or ANZ Banks, although all our
banks' names get used on occasions.

Hi, Bj,

I dn't think that there is a single bank or financial institution that does not get used for these spoof emails - hopefully people receive enough from banks to which they do not belong ans so, realise what they are.

BTW it is not a good idea to write back that you are not a client - they will keep trying this and other scams since you have confirmmed that your email address is valid.

Hi Arthur,

I never reply to them. But very good advice for anyone tempted to.

I just check a box in my mail washer and they are automatically reported and deleted. One click operation makes life so easy.
