Your Guide to Tile Cleaning

by Mickey A. Consultant

There aren’t a lot of negative things that can be said about tiles. They are the perfect option for eco-friendly house building, they keep the house cool, the help maintain the air quality, they can be recycled, they last for a very long time, they don’t cause any allergies, they are very low maintenance and best of all, they can fit just about any budget.

Another thing that makes tiles such a nice option for houses is that they are pretty easy to clean, meaning that you don’t have to go to extraordinary lengths for the cleaning process. That is, unless there are other factors involved, but more about that later.

Here are some tips that will help you clean the tiles of your house effectively.

Things You Should Consider First

·         Try not to use vacuum powder if possible. It is not considered good for a house with kids and the cleaning process can be done without it.

·         Sweep and wipe the area you wish to clean. Make sure that it is dirt – and other substance – free.

·         Make sure that water wasn’t lying on the surface for any duration of time.

·         Make sure all the windows are closed.

The process

For the floors, you can use the ever reliable mop, but for the walls, you might want to consider a sponger. This will make the cleaning more effective and and streamline the entire process.

There are special solutions available that have been designed just for tiles, but you can use your regular cleaning solution if you want. If you want, you can even make your own organic solution. All you need for that is one cup of vinegar and one gallon of warm water. You can use this ratio to make a large quantity. You can also add baking soda as it will give the solution an extra kick, but it’s completely optional.

Make sure that you change the water if it gets too dirty. By washing with dirty water, you are only spreading the germs and bacteria around.

When using the mop, put a little effort into it. The tiles that are usually used for the floors are sturdier. The ones used for the wall aren’t as much. Afterwards use a cleaner mop and clean water to rinse the floor, and a wet clean cloth for the wall.

Don’t expect these tips to work on grout though because that is a completely different thing and the external factor mentioned above. Of course you can try to clean the grout yourself but it will take a lot of your time and in the end it might not even work. The better option would be to call a professional service like Sydney Steam Cleaning. The technicians from the company will effectively remove the grout and leave the tiles as good as new.
