by Visaka News News headlines from Visakhapatnam
With the New Year’s almost here, it’s time to plan out your vacations. If you’re still in a dilemma as to where to head to celebrate the year end, I am here to help you. Backpack to the lively state of Andhra Pradesh. Having done that myself, I can assure you that Vijayawada should be your next winter getaway. Reflecting its royal history and rich cultures, here’re a few reasons why Vijayawada is the perfect destination to celebrate New Year’s:

Bhavani Island:
Located on the banks of Krishna River, Bhavani Island is spread across 130 acres of land. Last month with a group of my close friends, I took a trip to this island. I absolutely loved the tranquil and peace this place offered. I can’t wait to take another trip to Vijayawada this year end. For adventure junkies out there, Bhavani is a hidden paradise. From boating to swimming, every water sports can be relished in the heart of this island.  If you’re a foodie, then you can not miss out its multiple restaurants which serving lip-smacking cuisine on your platter.

Kanaka Durga Temple:
When a local told me about this temple, immediately I made up our mind to visit this magnificent temple.  Kanaka Durga Temple manifests Dravidian architecture. As you enter the temple campus, you feel a positive and divine energy that fills up your heart with peace.  Embraced by the spectacular Indrakiladri hills, Kanaka Durga is one of the ancient temples in Vijayawada that receives a large number of devotees all year through. Away from the hustle bustle of the city, here you can be at peace with yourself and the world around.

Undavalli Caves:
During my visit, my next destination was only 8 knows far from the city centre. Undavalli Caves are a perfect epitome of the architecture of Gupta Empire. Built in the 4th century, Undavalli Caves hold an  interesting history. Earlier known as Jain Caves, these Caves were soon transformed into a majestic Hindu temple. It is an ideal place for people who love to go back to dusty pages of history books. This sandstone structure is truly a delight for your eyes. If you are planning to take a trip to Vijaywada any time soon, then here’s tip I would like to share with you. Pre-book your tickets during off season and grab exciting Vizag offers and discounts offered by Vizag Tourism to enjoy your holidays to the fullest.

Victoria Museum:
Taking a stroll through the alleys of this ancient museum, I felt as if the time got reversed and I was transported to a different world. Looking at the flawless idols, creative paintings, sculptures, prehistoric weapons, I realized that Victoria Museum is the place I was looking for. Its Buddha Statue is the centre of attraction.

Kolleru Lake:
Been at Vijayawada and missing out the India’s largest freshwater is not justifiable. Kolleru Lake is a natural habitat of migratory birds flying from across the globe. For nature lovers out there, this mesmerizing lake is a must visit. Witness Glossy Ibises and Bill Storks from your naked eyes and merge with the tranquility that the freshwater unfolds within its depth.

Hope, you have got enough reasons to visit Vijayawada this New Year’s. Don’t forget to avail Vizag offers and discounts from Vizag Tourism. Wish you happy holidays!
