The goddess Saraswati is considered the mother of the Vedas, representing the free flow of wisdom and consciousness. She is associated with music, art, and knowledge.

In Hindu mythology, Saraswati brass statue is associated with the flow of knowledge and wisdom through the Vedas. The Vedas are considered sacred scripture containing all knowledge about the world and its creation. The term 'Veda' means "knowledge."

The Vedas are also known as 'Saraswati Vandana' or "chanting directed to Saraswati," which is often used as a starting point for Vedic lessons in India.


  •     The goddess Saraswati is considered as Goddess of Wisdom and Knowledge. She is the daughter of Lord Shiva and Goddess Maa Durga Brass Idol.
  •      It is believed that the Brass Saraswati Idol endows human beings with speech, wisdom, and learning powers.
  •      She has four hands representing four aspects of human personality in learning: mind, intellect, alertness, and ego. In visual representations, she has sacred scriptures in one hand and a lotus, the symbol of actual knowledge, on the opposite hand.

Saraswati's name means "lady, who shines," which refers to her being a beautiful woman who symbolizes knowledge and wisdom. Since her name means "lady," she is often depicted with flowing hair or jewelry to signify her beauty and gracefulness.

Symbolism of Saraswati

  •      Saraswati, the goddess of wisdom and knowledge, is a prominent figure in Hindu iconography.
  •      She is depicted as a young woman with four arms playing the veena, symbolizing love and life.

  •    She is dressed in white—the symbol of purity—and rides on a white swan, symbolizing Sattwa Guna (purity and discrimination).
  •     Saraswati Idol Brass is also a prominent figure in Buddhist iconography—the consort of Manjushri.
  •      She is depicted as sitting on a lotus flower with one hand raised to her head and the other hand pointing down towards the earth.

  •      The goddess Saraswati, also known as Sachi Devi, is worshiped as a symbol of wisdom.

The goddess Saraswati brass Murti has been an important figure in Hinduism for thousands of years. She has been revered by learned individuals who attach great importance to her worship as a representation of knowledge and wisdom. They believe that only Saraswati can grant them moksha—the final liberation of the soul.

It is believed that Saraswati was born from Prajapati's head while asleep. He saw her as a promising vision and woke up in joy after seeing her. After this incident, Prajapati became very pleased with his creation and named her Saraswati.

Saraswati has four different names: Shukracharya (the one who praises), Shubhankaracharya (the one which the Supreme Being praises), Lakshmi Narayana (the goddess of wealth), and Padmavathi (the goddess who wears lotus).

Saraswati Mantra

The following famous pranam mantra, or Sanskrit prayer, is uttered with utmost devotion by Saraswati devotees as they eulogize the goddess of knowledge.

  •         Viswarupey Vishalakshmi, Vidyam Dehi Namohastutey ||
  •        Jaya Jaya Devi, Charachara Sharey, Kuchayuga Shobhita, Mukta Haarey |
  •        Vina Ranjita, Pustaka Hastey, Bhagavati Bharati Devi Namohastutey ||

Saraswati is considered the Hindu god statues of wisdom and knowledge. She is also considered the goddess of music, arts, and science. When education and artistic skill becomes too extensive, it can lead to great success, which is equated with Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and beauty.
