Wholesale cheese distributors: the link between creamery and customer

The British love cheese. Always have, so far as anyone knows. There are little cheese shops and speciality cheese counters in larger stores, all over the country and they do good business. Their customers rely on them. And they rely on wholesale cheese distributors.

Delivering a perfect product – everywhere, every time

Lactalis has been in the dairy business since 1933. We take milk in all its forms and we sell it – in all its forms. In fact, fresh milk sales still amount to a quarter of our total business. And we share that British love of cheese. It's doesn’t matter whether it’s Camembert from Normandy, Cheddar from Orkney or mascarpone from Italy, the customers of those little cheese shops and speciality counters want them all, which means these retailers want them all, so we have to supply them all.

Never forget the chefs

Talking about cheese shops could make us forget the chefs and restaurants who use our products. Rest assured, we will never do that. Every chef and every restaurant in the country is different, so the service they get has to be different.

Cheese in the hands of a chef must be ready to serve immediately - not next week, when it’s been in the restaurant for seven days. And certainly not the day before we get it there. Wholesale cheese distributors don’t forget the chefs because they don’t want the chefs to forget them, which is exactly what will happen if the wholesale cheese distributors don’t look after their customers’ interests.
