The couple adopted Mara, and the two little girls were switched. Clara sees Mara as her main enemy, and she begins to resent her. The actress was born Gladys Agoncillo. Her father, Juan, played a child role in Mara Clara, but her first role was in the GMA-7 soap opera Esperanza.
