When to clean the water tank should be done for our health. Water reservoirs are those areas where there is a network outage or storage of existing water.
Although the water coming from the network reaches to our warehouse as purified and chlorinated, it brings the sand, slime and mud that it brings with it from the transportation line to the warehouse.
These residues, which come with the network water, collapse to the bottom of the tank and form a layer. This time causes contamination and the formation of bacteria in the tank.
In addition, the water tank mechanism pulls water from the top layer and pumps it. For this reason, bacteria in the water does not move at the bottom.
Coliform, E-Coli and Enterekok.
In order to deliver water from the water tank to healthy consumption, it is necessary to clean and disinfect in some periods.
Water tanks should be cleaned and disinfected in 3 month and 6 month straw.
The Circular 2007- 67 of the Ministry of Health summarizes the following.
Issues to be paid by our people;
Those who have not been cleaned from the water tanks used in buildings and houses should be cleaned immediately, then certain periods (every 3 months in periods of interruption, in other periods every 6 months) should be cleaned and disinfected. Water should be used from the tank when there is no interruption.
Water tank cleaning service should be carried out by specialists, authorities and quality certificates.
Occupational safety documents, OHS and physician contracts, ISO 9001 certificates and authority certificates must be requested.
Portrait examination records, OHS certificates, hygiene and professional competence documents of the personnel should be questioned.
E-Coli, enterococci and Coliform bacteria are easily formed and reproduced in dirty water tank. These bacteria can cause health problems such as intestinal infections, high fever, vomiting nausea.
To be exposed to these bacteria, we do not need to consume only the water from the tank. Even when we wash vegetables and fruits with water from a dirty tank and even personal hygiene, our health may be at serious risk.
In short, uncleaned warehouses contain microbes.
What should be done to avoid these risks?
For healthy water consumption and use, water tanks should be cleaned and disinfected every 6 months and then on a regular basis.
This issue is clearly stated in the circulars of relevant ministries (S.B. 2007-67).
