What Makes a Local Business Site Stand Out?

by Jeremy Banks Evolutesix
It’s 2018, we’re sure that you must have at least started thinking about getting that website for your business by now. With that, you must also be wondering, “How can I make sure it won’t bore customers away?” and “What do I need to do in order to make them choose my site if they’re looking for a certain product?”
You need not worry. With a few optimization tips, your business is sure to have better chances at gaining that loyal customer following.

Memorable Visuals

Design Your Site Around Your Logo

You want your customers to have something they can easily recall your site by. Think McDonalds, Sephora, The New Yorker – see how the colors, fonts, and overall layout of their webpages are all built upon their respective logos.

With McDonald’s for example, you remember its logos iconic colors Red and Yellow, with Sephora it’s the White background and black text complementing its minimalist black logo, and as for the New Yorker, its website identity is easy to spot with its simple design using the same fancy fonts used in the logo.

There are lots of different ways you can play with your website design in order to make sure it brings out your logo, and more importantly, your brand, best.

Invest in a Smooth and Dynamic User Interface

The only thing that could make your website more visually appealing? A well-developed user interface that’s not flat and, of course, actually works.

No point in making a menu bar with different fancy effects if once you click an option everything starts hanging. If you’re going to go with an exciting website, make sure it’s developed properly; if you’re not confident in your web developer’s skills, it may be best to stick to simpler designs, although it won’t be as impression-making as a dynamic site.

Catchy Content

Keep It as Relatable as Possible

While it can’t be avoided for some businesses to have to use jargon and other overly-specific words sometimes, remember that how you present the content is what matters and definitely moldable.

Use an everyday instance with which your customer is bound to relate to and create a story out of it. Better yet, connect it with any recent social media happening or news event that shows its importance. Remember, they came to your site to see how you can help them, not browse through an encyclopedia page.

Note Your Content’s Structure

Imagine that all your readers are lazy and will only read the first sentence of each paragraph. You’d want to keep them hooked with that one and only sentence, right? So with each paragraph, go straight to the point before you begin explaining it.
Also, avoid those long, on and on paragraphs. If you’ve got a lot of things you want to point out, divide them into subheadings that won’t leave the reader continuously asking, “So what?”

Investment in Quality

Remember that tips can only get you so far if you haven’t got the experience or the professional input to make sure that your website makes an impression. While make-your-own site and software may help, it doesn’t leave you much room to customize and really make your website true to your company brand.

Apart from the importance of actual field time and technical expertise, it takes quite a bit of time, the same time that a business owner who’s been trying to do everything themselves. So why not go all out with a good agency?
