What Made KTM Duke 125 and RC 125 Best Selling Bikes in India?

by Navneet Sharma Financial Analyst

With sales in June 2019 a whopping 19.4% higher than sales in June 2018, KTM India sales are roaring ahead of the competition in the performance motorcycle segment. Leading the charge is the KTM Duke 125 and RC 125, the recent additions to the Bajaj stable.

What Gives the KTM bike an Edge Over the Competition

The reason kTM bikes in India have been able to stay ahead of the competition is as follows.

Price

One of the major reasons for the stellar performance of KTM bikes is, of course, the price factor. The KTM Duke 125 and RC 125 have been priced at Rs. 1.3 lacs and 1.47 lacs respectively (ex-showroom) in Delhi, which makes them competitive when it comes to price for the 125 cc segment.

Brand

Both the KTM Duke 125 cc and RC 125 cc come from the Bajaj family, which has a longstanding reputation for being the leading player in the performance motorcycle segment. The KTM Duke 125 is the first 125 cc motorcycle in this segment.

Design

Though the design of the KTM 125 resembles the Duke 200cc, the Duke 125 gives you more stylish and contemporary body graphics.

The RC 125 design is modeled on the design of the KTM RC16, Bajaj's MotoGP bike. It has a strong resemblance to the RC 390, and its sleek look makes it hugely popular.

Performance

The 124cc single-cylinder engine of the RC 125 provides 14.3 bhp of max power, strong braking with the 300 mm front disc gives you the speed and balance you need.

The Duke 125 has a liquid-cooled 125 cc single-cooled single-cylinder providing 14.5 bhp of max power.

Fuel efficiency

You get a mileage of 41.3 kmpl with the RC 125 and the figure for the Duke 125 is between 35 and 40 kmpl, which equals great savings for you!
