What are the Differences Between Old and New Bajaj Avenger 220?

by Navneet Sharma Financial Analyst

Bajaj comes up with new, better models almost every year. For 2017, Bajaj has brought forward the new Avenger 220 siblings with a few points of distinction between the older models and the new ones. The Bajaj Avenger 220 is now available in two variants - the Cruise 220 and Street 220 variants. The company has kept the basic design of the Avenger 220 unchanged, and the new one is now available in two options - the Street and Cruise. The Street variant has additions in the form of a black paint scheme with red highlights, mag wheels, black painted exhaust, black-painted engine, new instrument cluster, and new grab rail. The 220 cubic centimetre Bajaj Avenger engine is capable of putting out 18.76bhp and developing a 17.5Nm torque. On the other hand, the 220 Cruise comes with a bit more chrome on it, and the headlamps and handlebar are all dipped in it.

Given below are the significant comparisons:

  • Redesigned Headlamps And Windscreen

The old Avenger 220 had a simple design feature while the new Bajaj Avenger 220 has added flairs and a freshly designed headlight and windshield. The older version had an inverted triangular headlamp or a rectangular-shaped headlamp. The new variant now features LED DRLs. The windscreen on the new Cruise 220 is taller, and it gets a more aerodynamic shape. The new Street 220, on the other hand, has a small and sporty flyscreen.

  • New Paint Schemes And Graphics

While the bodywork is the same, the brand new paint schemes and graphics give the bikes a new and fresh look. The latest Cruise 220 makes use of an abundance of chrome for a very classy look. The Street 220 had blacked out components giving it a very sporty look. The Cruise is available in glossy paints like black and white while Street 220 comes in only matte shades.

  • Digital Instrument Console

Bajaj has gifted the new Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 and the Street 220 dual digital displays. The central console above the handlebar is round in shape, although it now has a digital display. The screen on the fuel tank integrates all the tell-tale indicators.

  • Longer Suspension Travel

Bajaj has increased the rear suspension travel by twelve percent while keeping the hardware similar. This feature improves the Avenger 220's ride quality.

  • New Price Tag

The most surprising part about the new Avenger 220 is its price tag. Even with all these high tech updates, the Avenger Cruise 220 and the Street 220 starts at Rs 93,000 (ex-showroom), which is not very pricey than before.
